MONEY DON'T MATTER 2NIGHT

What does the song mean?

One of my favourite song.

My interpretation would be that people whom you love such as your family are more important than money. Have you seen this song's video ? I think that was the message it was trying to put across.

So, what would be your own interpretation of this song?

Well, in the big picture the song is about something else...

But specifically in the first verse he is obviously referring to a game of blackjack: "One more card and it's 22, unlucky for him again."

So, my question is - Is Prince a gambler?

He wasn't 20 before his first hit single, so he wouldn't have been allowed in a casino. I couldn't imagine seeing Prince sitting at a blackjack table with the other scumbags of the world. So, do you think Prince (and other celebrities) get their own private gambling room at casinos?

I think that the chorus says it all... Money don't matter... you're better off making sure your soul's alright". From personal experience I have come to the conclusion that we come into this world with nothing and leave with nothing, in between we spend our lives worshipping money and concentrating on little else.
Basically I think he's trying to say that one should seek spiritual happiness before financial happiness. I suppose it's easy to say that being a millionaire rock star but I understand his point... when I had money I was unhappy, now I am broke I am happier. Go figure!

I don't play often, but I think that Poker is fun.

Life for a man or a woman, comes down to the keys in their hands. And Money doesn't matter tonight, cuz' it sure didn't matter yesterday...Is another way of saying....
Who would you hand your keys, in trust to? That is Love.

I think he was trying to cover society's addiction to wealth as status in several vignettes.

The first tells of a gambler whose constant gambling causes trouble at home with his significant other. "Thats why he never wins"

Next, I feel he's addressing the music industry but he makes it sound like some sort of business deal that's fishy (but isn't the music industry all about fishy deals?). "All he finds are snakes in ever color"

An obvious blow at the corporate oil and chemical industry. How they have the capability of causing war and profiting from it at the same time. I also feel that it hints at the loss of his son but... "Is it worth a child dying 4? (is it worth it?)"

So there you have it. My thoughts on it in a nutshell.
