prince won the award last year because the music was from a far superior album called 3121 future crack mama is a off a wack album in the r&b genre. i highly doubt seal will win but it would b nice that he did, so it will b probably kayne, common or chris brown 2 take it in this genre man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

You're probably right; but if the NAACP adheres to their own definition of why the Image Awards are awarded ("...to honor projects and individuals that promote diversity in the arts in television, recording, literature, and motion pictures") Prince should win. Kanye's promotion of diversity is "George Bush hates black people" and his grief has absolutely nothing to do with diversity or the arts. Prince has done more to promote diversity and the arts than Kanye, Chris & Common combined (not sure about Seal). . [Edited 1/10/08 11:22am]

True, but what has Kanye (or any of the male nominees) done in 07 to promote diversity in the arts? didn't he have one of the biggest selling first weeks last year? isnt the album one of the biggest selling of the year? some could say that translates to him promoting diversity. not that i agree with it but i can see the logic behind some of these silly award show wins... at least the NAACP doesnt try to claim they are honoring the best in quality. Can’t see him winning for Planet Earth. If I recall, he already won the award for his previous two albums, Musicology and 3121. If only for that reason I can’t see it happening again. Heck, wouldn’t that be three times in four years? Won’t happen

http://www.eurweb.com/sto...r39828.cfm 'During this crucial election year, the NAACP encourages everyone to be socially conscious and take a stand on critical human and civil rights issues. The civil rights organization is also going green this year, with plans to incorporate eco-friendly initiatives to reduce the Image Award’s carbon footprint and reduce the ceremonies impact on the world’s climate.' perhaps planet earth will receive an award! the naacp knowns nothing about music, which is why he was chosen.if they heard the new album he would not be chose because the new album is lame.http://www.ew.com/ew/arti...23,00.html The Denzel Washington-directed The Great Debaters came out on top in Tuesday's 39th Annual NAACAP Image Award nominations with eight nods, including outstanding actor and director for Washington, and supporting actor nominations for Forest Whitaker and Nate Parker. American Gangster, I Am Legend, Talk to Me, and Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? rounded off the outstanding motion picture category. In the TV comedy categories, Ugly Betty and Everybody Hates Chris both scored multiple nominations, including outstanding comedy. TV drama nominations were fairly spread out, with Grey's Anatomy, The Unit, Lincoln Heights, and K-Ville each earning multiple nods. For music, the outstanding male artist nominations went to Chris Brown, Common, Kanye West, Prince, and Seal, while the outstanding female artist nods went to Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Beyonce, Jill Scott, and Mary J. Blige. The NAACP Image Awards honor projects and individuals that promote diversity in the arts in television, recording, literature, and motion pictures. Fox is set to air the live awards presentation on Feb. 14. [Edited 1/9/08 11:08am]

Prince himself hasn't done many albums better than Planet Earf... [b][Edited 1/9/08 15:19pm][/b] All of the WB stuff is better than PE. WGA grants waiver to NAACP Image Awards; Grammys next?
NAACP Image Awards to take place on February 14, 2008, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Writers may be hired to script the show and there will be no picketing by striking writers. The agreement will allow the hiring of WGA writers to script the show that will be telecast by the Fox network and there will be no picketing of the event by striking writers. In addition, WGA has granted a waiver permitting the use of clips from motion pictures and television programs. Meantime, the Grammys have requested a waiver for its CBS telecast on Feb. 10. The WGA has already said that it probably won't be granted (click here), but the guild may not call for a picket of the event since it's not loaded with film and TV writers and stars. WGA has granted waivers for the SAG and Independent Spirit Awards, but not the Golden Globes. The Critics Choice Awards were permitted to proceed on VH1 because its production company was not a guild signatory. Neither is Pierre Cossette Productions, which does the Grammys. update: the grammy waiver was rejected. Space for sale...
