Personally I like that Alicia Keys song...sounds great....she is a great artist...

Shes picked a few Princey bits yes, the breakdown instrumental refrain of Purple Rain but parts also lead me to Adore. Its hardly a major ripoff of either though, just uses elements. Shes a very safe artist and thus goes back to recycle past successes.

I haven't heard it ...but now I really want to!

I am convinced that Keys is using several artists influences on this album, i.e Marvin G, Curtis M, Amy W or is it Janis J, Stevie W, and Prince. IMO "Wreckless Love", "Like you'll never...", and "Sure Looks Good to Me" has a somewhat Prince affect. Learned Lesson sounds Stevie W. just my opinion.

To have your music influenced by Prince is one thing - this can result in some amazing stuff but to straight take from it and copy and try to be that artist - I find this to be truly disturbing.

i was thinking about that too! i love the video and the song is great! she's begining to get on my nerves on MTV b/c every other commercial is her... but someone is backing her greatly and this is how an artist promotes-may-be a few must take notes...

I jakced her song "Prince you will always be my Boo".

I heard the PR influence in that song the very first time I heard it. I love Alicia though, so it's all good.

In the New York Times review of the AK song they called it a "distant cousin" of Purple Rain. I haven't heard it yet.

As much as I do like her, I feel the same. I saw the video "Like You'll Never See Me Again" feat.Common... clearly there is a something something take on/of Prince and Purple Rain. Of course it is no longer on youtube. If you go 2 Dailymotions you can see it before it's ejected. Certainly worth checking out.

i like alicia's song. it is her song. it sounds similar to purple rain. big fricking deal. prince isn't innocent in that respect either.

little red corvett and tick tick bang just to name two songs that sound suspiciously like shit that was out by other music pioneers. so he's got her beat right there in the melody jacking department.

Man O Man! I think it's so damn funny how some of ya are critcizing her for this song. Why? It's obvious she admires his music. For all you know maybe P could have wrote this for her who knows. I think the song is not bad at all.

Prince has made it very clear that he digs Alicia's music. I for 1 just simply feel that "Purple Rain", "When Doves Cry" and "1999" should not b touched by other artists. Prince's influence is definitely with her which is a good thing. Let's not fight over Alicia please....we love her too.
