The beautiful ones Don't you agree that this is the most emotional Prince song ever recorded?
Especially the extended version is my absolute # 1 Prince song. I believe no other artist has gone that far concerning screaming at the top of his lungs. If you know a song by another artist that proves the opposite, I'd be glad to view your youtube vids. Thanx, C.

The Beautiful Ones Lyrics Artist: Prince (Buy Prince CDs) Album: Purple Rain Baby, baby, baby What's it gonna be Baby, baby, baby Is it him or is it me? Don't make me waste my time Don't make me lose my mind baby Baby, baby, baby Can't u stay with me tonight Oh baby, baby, baby Don't my kisses please u right U were so hard 2 find The beautiful ones, they hurt u everytime Paint a perfect picture Bring 2 life a vision in one's mind The beautiful ones Always smash the picture Always everytime If I told u baby That I was in love with u Oh baby, baby, baby If we got married Would that be cool? U make me so confused The beautiful ones U always seem 2 lose Baby, baby, Baby, baby, Baby, baby, Baby, What's it gonna be baby? Do u want him? Or do u want me? Cause I want u Said I want u Tell me, babe Do u want me? I gotta know, I gotta know Do u want me? Baby, baby, baby Listen 2 me I may not know where I'm going (babe) I said I may not know what I need One thing, one thing's 4 certain baby I know what I want, yeah and if it please u baby please u, baby I'm begging down on my knees I want u Yes I do Baby, baby, baby, baby I want you Yes I do The way Prince sings The Beautiful Ones sends chills throughout....in the song his "tortured" soul is put forth for all to see....it is the embodiment of the point at which a man finds himself helplessly in love (when he has vowed never to fall in love (or in love again)....truly artful and piercing to the soul.

the beautiful ones is red hot raawwrr passssionn!
gorgeous classic, fab melody. incredible lurve song. the only prince song i feel comes near 2 this in terms of the way he expresses his frustration with a load of mad screaming/noisy temper, nawty passion & steaming emotion is 'the dance' on 3121. it.

Good song, but it doesn't beat "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore."
Screaming, or what not, can't compare to the soulful emotion on "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore." White people love them some "Beautiful Ones" though. I'd probably take "The Dance" over it too, since you mentioned it. Kick the old school joint 4 the true funk soldiers.

It was incredible when he sang it at the O2, I think people were finding it hard to catch their breath!

I'm not saying that I don't like it, but I prefer songs like "International Lover", "Do Me, Baby", "Adore", "I Hate U" , etc. These songs kick "The Beautiful Ones" ass all over. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I bet it sounds great in person. The arrangement he did during the Musicology tour was amazing. It actually made me like the song. I guess because it was a little more r&b than pop. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

The song was good when it came out, dat a long time envious boy George said' I cant beleive a totally insensative star like, Prince could write such a beautiful & emotional song.'
The song has been done so many times, and to present. But if ur a huge fan of this song, i strongly advise u 2 check out the best, most emotional and REAL version. ACT 1 europe 1993. its all scream & emotion, and very physical. Sam 8) [Edited 1/6/08 18:58pm] Prince 2010 Good Luck for Future & Tour

I'd probably take "The Dance" over it too, since you mentioned it. Another clueless, ignorant sweeping race statement Nothing ignorant about the statement at all. Its a solid song, but its mostly geared towards the specific medium and that medium is the one who enjoys it the most. Songs such as How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore, Do Me Baby, Adore, Damn U, and I Hate U are geared towards the other medium, and even Prince knows this. Most of my white friends enjoy the songs I just listed, but when Beautiful Ones comes on, its like Jesus just came down and said "What up y'all?" I don't think its a bad joint, but it has to be the number one ballad of his mentioned in those circles. God forbid you play anything off of Dirty Mind, that album is non-existent to so many. (Not including the die hard fans.) Call it what you want, but its true. [Edited 1/7/08 17:21pm] Kick the old school joint 4 the true funk soldiers.

I love this song. At first I didn't understand it, but now I understand the emotion behind it, or the feeling of not having that love reciprocated. At one time it can be painful, yet at the same time it can be beautiful!
