For me it's late '85 through late '87. The released and unreleased circulating material from that period is peerless imo.
if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

It was probably when he switched to OB from Tampax.

I liked the ruffles and jerri curl period. Purple Rain/Around the World in a Day.
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

I like the current period. Music-wise the sound is fresh and modern.

And his overall dress is sharp and handsome.

I reckon London this summer at the aftershows - I was never keen on all the frills and dressing up so never went to the shows (bit of a shame as I missed out on some great live music and dance) but now listening to the songs and that guitar is for me what it is about. and the fact that Prince has the energy to deliver two shows a night - how cool is that. Most people I know didn't have the energy to go to an aftershow let alone perform one.
"C'mon y'all - let me hear you sing, c'mon y'all, shake, c'mon y'all, jump" - Yes Prince -
"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince -
"Can I play my guitar now?" - yes please

Parade - watch the Detroit Birthday gig! Now that is cool. Prince was on top of the world and so far ahead of everyone else musically at that point and boy did he know it!!

Sign O The Times. Height of his powers. I still remember the review of the single in Smash Hits back in 87 ... 'like hearing the voice of God'. Double album release and every track had something special going for it. IMHO of course.

But it's a tough call aint it.
