No, it´s the other way around. We love his music so much that it breaks our collective hearts to see what he sometimes does with his masterpieces.
Same goes for the Gold Experience, a great album as is, but ....all the songs pale in comparison to the rawer, less polished live versions, especially Shhh, Now, Days Of Wild ( even Prince himself admitted this) , and the title song,Gold.

It´s just too difficult to bottle up the raw energy of some gems in album format.

i have to agree and i think planet earth is another example of over -polishing the music, these tracks live were so much better but is that because live he can throw anything into the mix and adlib, so to speak, with the arrangements.

i like GB even tho the film is sooo painful to watch yuk my son watched the whole thing recently mesmorised he thought it was so funny but then he is a teenager!!! i think he was gobsmacked more by the hair and costumes than the acting!!! lol

however GB the album is fab i love all the time bits, i think i like it even more now than i did back then. maybe cos its nostalgis for lost time etc i dunno but tictick bang just went past me back then but i love it now! so very prince!

I am now listening to it on the stereo system , sounds marginally better, which is odd, as my PC is hooked up to the stereo, and normally the ripped CD´s sound better using this method. However, I still think it sounds superficial except for Joy in Repetition, which is pure genius.

i remember when it came out playing it endlessly, although the non prince songs annoyed me, apart from release it. At the time P was having major problems finishing the film GB, I have never watched the film completely, but from what i have seen of it, the soundtrack somehow coveys the hollowness of the film.
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

It's okay. What were you doing back then, did you have a movie and album out at the same time?
