I do not know, what Prince is referring to, However, I find it interesting that the, "Sherman Anti-Trust Act" of 1890...failed to achieve it's objectives, In 1894...The Attorney General, used the law against the American Railway Company." In 1914...A Lawyer drafted the "Clayton Anti-trust Act" that strengthened the power of the government to control monopolies, and forbade agreements between companies to fix or control prices, for the purpose of lessening competition. This act also prohibited individuals from serving as directors, for the competing corporations. 1) What are your opinions of Prince's meaning of, "Youv'e been here since 1914, now u got 2 go?" Prince is known to think deeply on most subjects....And this political stuff is very confusing, busy, and difficult to declare in any law case. 2) Do you believe monopolies are positive or negative? Even though Prince may not have meant anything by the monopolizing that was growing in 1914...However, The basis of the World's money, is based on these idea's...that may only be coincidence with the lyrics of the song, However, The world's financial greed, and/or generosity...Has it's roots, in these Acts. I always thought it was about the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses believe that since 1914 there has been a battle between good and evil. (WW1, WW2 etc.). They believe that the battle will last for one generation until judgement day when all believers will be saved. I think he is saying that the devil came in 1914 and he has to go. | |

In 1914 World War 1 began. There was much racial/cultural unrest throughout the world.
Apparently, JWs believe 1914 was to be the beginning of the End. Christ was made a King and Satan and his cohorts were dismissed from heaven and sent to planet Earth. (Possibly the catalyst for the war and/or wars to come? And, possibly the end of peace on earth -- at least until the second coming.) Additionally, a King of the Bamum a large ethnically diverse group (Rainbow Children) who inhabited western Cameroon, was exiled in 1914 when France took the country from Germany. (Later the British were awarded a portion of the country under the League of Nations = NATO ) NATO: . ..the organization established a system of collective defence whereby its member states agree to mutual defence in response to an attack by any external party. (War Organisation) The Cameroonian King, Njoya, an inventor was responsible for developing a written language. (Which undoubtedly challenged and intimidated the Germans, French and British) was exiled when he was unwilling to be "colonized". (Stripped of country, language, identity) I find interesting that the song Family Name is one of several "chapters" on the Rainbow Children album; which itself seems in several songs to foretell the projected "End". When Prince writes a song, we are often subjected to inquiry...which is one of the intriguing things about Prince....
I believe we all have credible idea's into what, "The Last Days' of the Devil's deal" means to Prince.... However, as a family of people on Earth, our opinions are certainly included in any philisophical debate. Prince often inspires deep thought and opens the door for discussion such as this. Keep in mind that History can pinpoint the devil's arrival from the beginning, as far as chaotic antagonism goes in the mind of the creator to seperate ideas for the mere purpose of unification. To truly love....Fear or Hatred must be understood. "I hate you" because I love you, is a perfect example of a Lover's quarrel. The phrase...."Money is the root of all evil" or the love of money....is what buys the rose for the lover and the gun for the attacker. I'd would like to add that 1914 was also significant in that, that year was last time that I got laid. And back then, if a person wanted to get a slice of that ol' poontang pie*, we had to walk 10 miles, barefoot, thru 6 feet of snow, uphill both ways in order to do so. Aannd we loved it. *However, back in those days, we called it a hair-burger. And from what I've seent in those periodicals that the kids today are really into (the ones with all the controversial photo's of where babies come from), burgers of this generation are usually preferred "easy on the hair". | |
