Prince and Frank Zappa similarities (please excuse previous bad title choice of words) Prince and Frank Zappa are so much alike not only in their music, but their work ethic and eccentric personalities. Both are known to be assholes who put out some of the most interesting music ever.

Prince is Prince. Why does he have to be someone else? It is hard enough being himself !

i love the lyrics to this, there is a better video but i cant find it, Zappa was brilliant, but i dont see the Prince connection If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

i think someone started a thread like this not too long ago. i'm not too familiar with zappa to compare. some old guy was playing his album loud in his car when i was at the beach one time (i think it was over-nite sensation) and it was kinda . i got a kick out of a few tracks. dinah-moe humm and some others were kind of . For all time I am with you, you are with me.

I guess I see alot of similarities in they way they both weren't afraid to do play whatever kinds of music they wanted. They don't care about making 'hits". They're both wicked guitar players. They are constantly switching bands and run their bands like the military. check this out http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related
here's a song Frank may have wrote about Prince. http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related [Edited 1/1/08 17:15pm] Frank gets funky. Listen to what Frank says about Warner Brothers at 3:40 in the video http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related [Edited 1/1/08 17:18pm] [Edited 1/1/08 17:24pm]

No need to confuse Queen with Prince If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

"eccentric" is a much nicer word though. it's the one i usually use for him. For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Frank Zappa was a musical genius. He made tons of music in his life, some of which I was able to maintain in my collection over the years. My favorite cut would be "Watermelons in Easter Hay", although "Lucille" with Ike Willis on vocals would be a close second. A Zappa/Prince collaboration would have been awesome! As it is, my dream band would be as follows:
Frank Zappa: Lead Guitar & post production Michael Hampton: Rhythm Guitar Bootsy Collins: Bass Guitar Stevie Wonder: Keyboards/Synths Larry Blackmon: Drums & post production Martha Wash: Background Vocals Tomi Jenkins: Background Vocals Earth, Wind & Fire: Horn Section Love Unlimited Orchestra: Strings George Clinton: Producer Debbie Allen: Choreography (featuring the Brotha's & Sista's from Around The Way dancers)

Prince: Guitar & Lead Vocals
Frank Zappa: Lead Guitar & post production Keith Richards: Rhythm Guitar Willie Weeks: Bass Guitar Dr Fink: Keyboards/Synths Keith Moon: Drums The I-Threes: Background Vocals Tower of Power Horns: Horn Section Paginini: Strings George Clinton: Producer The Pontani Sisters: Choreography & Dancing
