does prince love music anymore to the same degree as ..? maybe its natural to go disinterested in something no matter how much you loved it in previous years.
after listening to planet earth recently after only about 15 listens when i first bought it when it was released, i felt (amongst other things) that Prince has lost his love for what music can bring to him. i thought maybe the 4/5 minute limitation of the songs (the pop format), the need for a rigid 4/4 beat/production is starting to bore him and maybe he is conscious of repeating himself. this lack of inspiration comes across in the music and must have been mentioned before. i'm not critising him but its a bit sad from an artistic point of view. maybe the shit on the radio has really drained his enthusiasm for music. btw, happy new year.

the didactic little dude has squelched his creativity
the signal is weak and we ain't getting nothing much but noise these days it's the message versus the music every once in awhile a gem will pop out pearls of great price rare, but True he'll make it through intime

If anyone doubts his interest in music, go see him live, dont tell me that someone that has lost interest puts on a five hour marathon at the end of a 21 night stint in London.
However, I do agree that PE is one of the weakest albums, if not the weakest he has ever brought out of a recording studio If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Good point, I think in that sense Prince´s creative talents are not what they used to be, and have not been on that level since the 80´s, which is understandable. Most artists who are any way talented have a span of about 5 yrs max, where they are truly gifted, P had that for the best part of 15 yrs and he still throws out sparodic gems. Look at U2 or Bruce Springsteen, each album they bring out is called a classic, but look abit closer and it is merely repetition, just very well produced. If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I think he may be looking to expand because he gets bored with the same old thing after a while, but he was born to music so it will never leave him completly.

I haven't seen Prince perform since the "Musicology" tour. I don't think that Prince's love for music is anything but more for him every passing minute.
Tonight I saw a small band in the corner of a reastaurant..with a drummer that had once played with the "Four Seasons"...and these guy's ranging in age from 50 to 70...played Dixieland Jazz...with an upright piano, and a Trumpet too... It was great music to have ten feet from our conversation. Myself and two other ladies. I came home and got online at 11:31... It was great to have live music in such a small cute place tonight for less than 2 hours....We had fun. These guys played all heart and soul...and age was a distinguished position for a group of musicians. [Edited 12/31/07 22:19pm] "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

He hasn't lost his interest. Just his artistry.
