Phil Collins - A Prince Fan?

I was looking up the meaning of Phil Collins AWESOME mega-hit, "Sussudio" and found this person's answer, that mentions Prince in a fascinating way. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this person's answer?

QUESTION:
What does "Sussudio" mean anyway in that Phil Collins song?

ANSWER:
Collins got the title from his daughter, who had a horse she called "Sussudio." He thought it would work as a girl's name. As was the rest of the album, this was recorded in Collins' living room shortly after he married wife #2.

When this was released in 1985, critics assailed Collins for its similarity with Prince's hit "1999." Collins responded by saying that he was a "big Prince fan" and that his original version of "Sussudio" sounded even more like Prince.

"Sussudio" is a girl's name in the lyrics, but it is also the name Collins gave to the song's drum track. This was the second US #1 hit from the No Jacket Required album. The first was "One More Night." According to Collins, this is about a young man's fantasy for an older woman. Because she smiles at him, he thinks she fancies him, and she becomes the object of his sexual fantasies.

It is certainly true that the similarity between the two songs was commented on considerably when Collins released his song i.e. people recognised that its keyboard riff was something of a rip off.

I've never seem anyone able to attribute a source to the suggestion that Collins admitted to the song's similarity, based possibly on his admiration of prince, although this story has done the rounds.
