Good God, WHY? What purpose could that serve? No good purpose, that's what.

Prince doesn't have to do a 'Tom Jones'! To become relevant AGAIN? Soulja boy sounds pretty irrelevant to me, I've never heard of him and I don't think I really want to confused

Middle of what? Over what hill? Who is trying to relive anything? Thats the point. SB is a children's act. An uninteresting one at that.

Relevant?...to the kids you mean?
Naw he should remember that he is an icon, icons dont need to pander, the Beatles music donesnt need to be messed with to pander the the younger generation....

That was his downfall, in the 90's he started pandering to hip hop and every other fad, and..... forgot that..... HE WAS PRINCE, AMERICAN ICON father of the mineapolis sound, he WAS unique, marched to a diffrent drum, and all that stuff.....

Let everyone else, be everyone else.

No, people who appreciate good music! At the O2 there were people of all ages, teens to 60's! No one judged anyone else either! confused

I think that just like rock-n-roll, hip hop will end up lying in the bed of irrelevance. It always happens - file under "this too shall pass" . That's what happens when you create an industry around the "American Idol" mentality. The politics of scarcity doesn't know how to dictate to us any other way.

A serious question???

This is just like the thread about "lil wayne" claiming how hes better than Prince. Prince would only be doing more damage to himself to stoop to such a level. Even if your not currently liking Prince's musical output of late its 10x better than the gangsta crap thats out there. Soulja Boy is another pre packaged force fed meal of some gangster thug rapping over a kick and snare drum. There is no talent to that. ...well...unless you call it talent for making ones ears bleed. confused

Yes, that is way the Neptunes sell loads of records (LOL)
I wish you would stop with these attention seeking topics.

P is almost 50 he is not going to sell a shit load of records at this age and he would look like a fool working with a non-talent like shit hopper like Soulja boy.

Who will not be around in two years.

completely agree. soulja boy...SOULJA BOY?? got to be sh**in' me. what more does prince need to accomplish in his career...he's done his work, now he is just makin music cus he wants to, the love of making music.
i saw this thread title and thought it was a sick joke...am a little bit ill in knowing its serious; the stupidest thing ever written on this site (that hasnt been written by rockability lol )
Wouldn't you love to love me?

You must be kidding!
Prince has been around for 30 years and is known all over the globe and he is unbelievably talented.
I wouldn't call what soulja boy does talented and do you seriously think souljaboy will reach stardom outside the US and last 30 years???
Certainly not!!!
To become relevant in other countries soulja boy would have to have talent and learn proper English because his slang isn't understood outside the US.
love the one who is Love!

This is what I think about you and your idea:
brickbrickbrick

Prince does not need a sorry ass rapper like Soulja Boy with a stupid ass dance to make him relevant. Prince ia relevant so it's unnecessary. Where do people come up with these ideas?confuse
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Can't say that I agree with that but he should do a duet with Sade or India Arie. I think that would be awesome.

We're not the generation that never gets past a slow to midtempo Judy Garland or Lawrence Welk tempo. Seems to me that the younger generation is the ones that's really over the hill and trying to live our great grandparents youth with their slow paced music. We're the generation that wanted to jam and keep moving forward. The younger generation is the one that's going backwards into time.

Nobody would buy it and once again stop
with the attention seeking threads and go read a book. Very few artist are charting in the top ten over the age of 50. Most do not have to since they are out playing 20k seat arenas while Soulja boy is performing free at the local park.

You cannot name another black act that is pulling down the kind of change P is from live shows. I can guarantee you none of the dirty south rappers are going to be doing any of the things P is doing now or has done in his past.

Please stop embarrassing yourself. During the Musicology shows I saw lots ‘of teenagers and even if P’s crowd is over the hill.
Those people have money to spend. One of the reasons no Shit-hopper can sell out an arena on their own.
