A lot of shit hop fans say that most of those groups are "electro" and not really hip hop. Well, when those groups were in style, there was no such genre as electro. It was known as rap or hip hop. The term electro didn't come until the 1990s when rap sounded totally different and the no talents had to come up with something to separate the groups with real talent so they couldn't be compared to them and look bad. If they don't want to call them hip hop, that's fine with me. That just means I won't have to worry about insulting the talented rappers when I shit on the entire genre. The hip hop I listened to sounds nothing like the boring stuff it became in the 1990s. And yeah, the overrated almighty Borepac Shakur and Dr. Dre and the majority of the other rappers from the 1990s are also included in the type of rap that I consider "shit hop" when I came up with the term. Shit hop is stripped down "talking over a weak sounding beat" and it never gets past midtempo. It starting dominating the radio in the early 1990s and still dominates it. I know I typed a lot to answer your question but nothing gets my blood pressure up more than shit hop. Not even Shitney Houston. . . [Edited 12/20/07 9:49am] naw i appreciate u taking 2 the time 2 xplain it all because i was under the impression that u didn't like hip hop at all. but i'm glad u cleared it up since we like the similar type of hip hop when they had a message and u could understand every damn word they were saying. we cool That's not exactly what I was saying. I liked it when it was actual "music" and it was fast enough to shake ass to. This shit today is nothing but a stripped down weak beat at a sissified Judy Garland tempo. As for lyrics, I wouldn't care if they rapped the ABCs if the music was funky behind it. The music is my concern. Andy is a four letter word.

Believe me, I am not happy whatsoever with what Prince is doing, but at the same time, it's kinda hard to turn your back on somebody whose music you have enjoyed in 20+ years. true .. man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I thought that you had stopped listening to all of his music, even the celebrations. I must say that I never liked absolutely EVERYTHING that Prince has done either. There are some songs by him that I skip over every time, such as "Right the Wrong". I don't think Wendy and Lisa are goddesses that need to be worshipped either, the way some folks do. Ditto! I quit listening to Prince for awhile when he started with this "I'm gonna sue and yo mamma too" stuff. But I guess I got over that. I think my signature kind of says it all. I agree with it

Prince doesn't need any fan base. He loves to release new music, and he just don't give a fuck if their "fans" buy his albums or not, or if they are pleased by his musical direction/style, that's all. He is very Dylan-ish . You can put Dylan, Prince and Bowie in the same box, just the opposite of a Springsteen-RollingStones-Elton John box.
I mean, he only thinks about the mainstream market (Prince, 1999, Purple Rain, D&P, Rave, Musicology) or just about himself (the rest of his career).
