?Stop Listening 2 Prince’s Music?

Is there anything Prince could do that would make u stop listening to his music? Celebrities have committed crimes in the past like, Roman Polanski who left the country to escape punishment then won an Oscar just a few years ago. R. Kelly has not suffered from lack of CD sales or concert attendance since his scandal. John Lennon preached peace and love while at the same time not being involved in the life of his first son Julian.

It seems that the aforementioned never suffered a backlash because fans compartmentalized the lives of their heroes. Since Prince recently sent notice to fansites to remove his image, I have seen a few posting here from fans who say they will not support Prince anymore. What do u think?

I'm not sure..I'm still gonna listen to his music even though he's suing YouTube and all that stuff. He makes good music, I like it. Especially When Doves Cry, it kind of makes me think about *personal* things..

I stopped a while ago because I was disgusted by him, but that only lasted a few days. I still don't like how he is treating the fansites, but he would have to, like, rape someone or do something very, very aweful to get me to stop listining to him.

Haven't listened to a note of Prince since the whole PFU fiasco began.
I'm also a dj, so i haven't played a note either.

And i won't until the whole thing is resolved.
And i'm fine with it.

I don't listen to Prince's music because of what kind of person he is, or how I think he should be as a human. I think that kind of thing could be a bit unhealthy and smacks of taking fandom too seriously. I listen to Prince because he makes great music, not because of whether he is a good person or not.

That being said, if his personal life ever overshadowed his art/music- I suppose it could taint my enjoyment of his music.

I haven't listened to Prince music all that much in the last two years or so. It has nothing to do with his personality however, I just found better and more interesting stuff.
Besides, everybody got their share of problems, don't think too hard on it.
Separate the musicians private life from his music and enjoy cool
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

supporting any future endeavors is different from listening 2 the music i already have. in fact i'm listening 2 the celebration from 2002 in my ride currently, but i will not purchase any new music until the PFU situation is resolved however.

4 me 2 not listen 2 his music ever again, i doubt it.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

The only personal thing he could do that would make me stop listening to his music would be if he personally came down here and slapped me upside my head. Then I would put my foot up his ass and wouldn't listen to his music anymore. As far as what he does with his personal life or does to someone else, that's not my problem.

I was thinking about this thread during my lunchbreak and I came to this conclusion. The only way for me to stop listening to Prince is if he did something to me personallly and if he did, I'd whup his ass and sell his shit so I can get my money back. The PFU hasn't stopped me from being a fan, the name change and all the other stupid stuff hasn't stopped me. Plus I don't think I'll meet the man (but I won't be mad if I did) so I guess I'll always be rollin with Prince. biggrin
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I don't think I'd listen to his music if he became a death-metal artist. death

Oh, now that's another story. If he changed genres and did absolutely no funk/rock altogether, I would drop his ass like a hot potato. It's already bad enough that he's so damn diverse but I can skip over shitty songs as long as they are sandwiched inbetween funk/rock.

If he started making full-fledged full length shit hop, country, classical, accoustical, or folk albums and didn't snap out of it and come back to his senses on the next album, I would be saying....."NEXT!".

If he cut off my ears wink only joking. Can't think of anything that he would do that would make me stop listening to him, maybe for the short term, but in the long term the good songs will still be there.

Remember when Prince said, "The road yo choose to walk in this life is the one that leads into the next?" Well,,,Prince better be scared to death cuz, even if I'm not in the front row time and time again in this life...

I've got front row forever, if creative visualization really works...Prince oughta be really afraid if velcro pantz come into style 2...cuz I dezyned em'! cool

i got a question 4 u ..do u like hip hop at all?

Only the stuff from the early years such as Soul Sonic Force, Egyptian Lover, Twilight 22, Pretty Tony and Freestyle, Kurtis Blow, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run D.M.C., Whodini, Divine Sounds, Newcleus, Wuff Ticket, LA Dream Team, Rockmaster Scott and the Dynamic Three, etc.

Most of these folks had instruments on their tracks and made the songs from the ground up rather than having a sample for the main structure of their songs. A lot of shit hop fans say that most of those groups are "electro" and not really hip hop. Well, when those groups were in style, there was no such genre as electro. It was known as rap or hip hop. The term electro didn't come until the 1990s when rap sounded totally different and the no talents had to come up with something to separate the groups with real talent so they couldn't be compared to them and look bad. If they don't want to call them hip hop, that's fine with me. That just means I won't have to worry about insulting the talented rappers when I shit on the entire genre.

The hip hop I listened to sounds nothing like the boring stuff it became in the 1990s. And yeah, the overrated almighty Borepac Shakur and Dr. Dre and the majority of the other rappers from the 1990s are also included in the type of rap that I consider "shit hop" when I came up with the term. Shit hop is stripped down "talking over a weak sounding beat" and it never gets past midtempo. It starting dominating the radio in the early 1990s and still dominates it.

I know I typed a lot to answer your question but nothing gets my blood pressure up more than shit hop. Not even Shitney Houston. lol

Not exactly. lol Believe me, I am not happy whatsoever with what Prince is doing, but at the same time, it's kinda hard to turn your back on somebody whose music you have enjoyed in 20+ years.
