From out of the darkness, before there was time There came a sound that enters the mind Through a door that's deep in your soul Through every pore of your body it goes And in a light too bright to behold Is a truth more shiny than gold And as sure as this candle burns Every soul must return Into the light, into the light From out of the light there comes a story... Open your mind, and feel the glory What's the hurry to die without trying? If you could sell your worries (sell your worries) Would anyone buy 'em? (oh no) And for every flower that grows, even a baby knows That as sure as the candle burns Every soul must return Into the light, into the light I've been listening to these songs all day long while working around the home and it's helped me to think about my life situation. All those years I've been in a 'darkness', so to speak, living my life in a void and not letting anyone in, or anyone get to me. Basically, I sort of gave up and accepted the 'sad/dejected' life that I was living; and considered myself a lost soul. But now thinking of what these lyrics say; Every soul must return to the light, Open your mind and feel the glory, is very touching. To me it translates that one cannot live in a mental prison all their life but must eventually come out and taste life again. (my interpretation anyway) There is another interpretation.... From out of the darkness, before there was time
There came a sound that enters the mind Ever notice that in almost all creation stories, creation begins with a sound? For instance, in the Bible, "In the beginning was the Word..." In Genesis, "God said, Let there be..." In meditation, one hears what is called the Aum/Om which is said to be: "the breath of God". Amen actually derives from the root Aum. Also think that God "breathed" life into Adam. The sound of Aum/the breath of God. Through a door that's deep in your soul
Through every pore of your body it goes Again, in meditation, when one "opens as a door" the sound of Aum fills every pore, cell, atom of you. And in a light too bright to behold
Is a truth more shiny than gold And as sure as this candle burns Every soul must return Into the light, into the light Also when one meditates, one sees a very bright light that is too bright to behold. It encompasses you, and you dissolve into the light (or become one with it). From out of the light there comes a story...
Open your mind, and feel the glory What's the hurry to die without trying? When you open yourself in meditation, all that is hidden is revealed. A story of sorts unfolds. But this could also be interpreted as "from out of light we are born and our story begins" so if we are born from out of the light, we can "see" the light and feel the love and glory while here on earth, and why would we not try to experience that while living in the flesh? If you could sell your worries (sell your worries)
Would anyone buy 'em? (oh no) We spend so much of our time in our minds, worrying about things that need no worry. We worry about what to wear, what we are going to eat, where we are going to go, etc. and so forth. Worrying doesn't solve the problem, it only keeps us mired in muck and keeps us from the seeing the Light. It's not fun, no one wants to worry, no one wants your worries, or their own, but they do so anyway and cling to their worries, and therefore cannot see the Light. So let go of your worries, don't cling, and realize that worrying doesn't help anything, just prevents one from seeing "heaven". And for every flower that grows, even a baby knows
That as sure as the candle burns Every soul must return Into the light, into the light In order to enter into heaven, one must be as a baby. A baby doesn't cling to the past, nor does the baby look forward to the future, a baby just experiences life as it comes. A flower has no intention of blooming, it just does what it does because that is what it is. Why worry, when you will return to the Light? This is just my interpretation of this song. I know that a lot of his earlier songs have references to meditation and seeing the Light and just being. Third Eye references the Christ center. Even some of his most recent albums will make reference of meditation or going within to find Truth. For instance, in TRC (The Rainbow Children) he has a song called the Everlasting Now. In the lyrics he talks about "looking for the kingdom deep within" He looked 4 the kingdom deep within
That's when the drums in his head began 2 pound Again, the drums are heard during meditation (in fact one can hear different sounds in meditation that represent different chakra levels). Anyway, just wanted to give you a different take on the song. | |
