Yet another example of Prince being contradictory. He doesn't have the right to post up these songs (or anything released on WB) - maybe someone should tell Warner Bros what he's doing.

http://www.3121.com/jam/ [Edited 12/17/07 13:49pm] Love the songs, but for an artist with more than 1000 unreleased, recorded songs and every live show recorded, I think you could get more creative than posting a song from a previously released album. cracknbush

2. Dig out my Chaos & Disorder cd to listen to them. Three songs from C&D, an album that was supposedly throw-away material to get rid of WB, within the last few months when he has a back catologue of thousands of songs? Sorry, P. 'A' for effort, but 'F' for execution.

These songs are okay. I thought I HATED the entire C&D CD. Well THAT aught to teach me not to judge an entire album on only one play.

I was wondering about these songs, that's why I thought it was just one song at first.

Since I can't do much today, doctor's orders, all I've been doing these past few hours was laying down with my headsets on listening to these songs repeatedly. Taking the time out and actually listening to and getting the feel for these songs was like a journey in my mind. It is very comforting and uplifting. I get the sense that Eye Will is a sort of personal resolution (if that's what it's called) by Prince. Like a promise to his 'higher self' (as like in CR).
Well, the first part anyway. In the second part, is he still talking to himself, where he says 'I will get to you'? Like an inner-self?

I'm sorry, I gotta paste the lyrics....
From out of the darkness, before there was time There came a sound that enters the mind Through a door that's deep in your soul Through every pore of your body it goes And in a light too bright to behold Is a truth more shiny than gold And as sure as this candle burns Every soul must return Into the light, into the light From out of the light there comes a story... Open your mind, and feel the glory What's the hurry to die without trying? If you could sell your worries (sell your worries) Would anyone buy 'em? (oh no) And for every flower that grows, even a baby knows That as sure as the candle burns Every soul must return Into the light, into the light . [Edited 12/19/07 22:27pm]

The songs are in the middle of the album which break the cd up so well, is P trying to bend our ear to some C&D? Im glad alot of people are hearing this for the first time. Beautiful Horns, Piano and lovely soaring guitar at the end.

If it is possible to be in love with a song, then I am guilty, what a beautiful song, love the composition. The horns really set the mood for the song, it stirs my soul....

All those years I've been in a 'darkness', so to speak, living my life in a void and not letting anyone in, or anyone get to me. Basically, I sort of gave up and accepted the 'sad/dejected' life that I was living; and considered myself a lost soul. But now thinking of what these lyrics say; Every soul must return to the light, Open your mind and feel the glory, is very touching. To me it translates that one cannot live in a mental prison all their life but must eventually come out and taste life again. (my interpretation anyway)

(my interpretation anyway) interesting you say that, back in 1992 i was working during the summer and shared a room with this guy from college, anyway,i think I kinda freaked him, as one morning before we went to work, he looked at me and said, that in the middle of the night, I sat up in my bed and screamed "My life is a prison" dont think he ever got over that. Then a few yrs ago, I was out having a few drinks with another work colleague, and we got into some discussion about building walls around yourself, to protect yourself. he looked at me and said, "Remember the walls you build around yourself, actually imprison you" If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Or maybe it's just that I interpreted it that way? Maybe sometimes we don't realize that we're building walls around ourselves, although, I knew I was. Maybe your colleague was telling you something?
