Prince please SHUT UP ALREADY About your beliefs ...3121 inbox: much of Christendom once rejected Christmas .

U know the more Prince tries to convert people to JW or enlighten us about pagan holidays the more I want to burn his music and call him out as a hypocrite...

I am a Christian - and if i choose to celebrate the birth of my savior in Dec let it be - its not about the dates its about are you doing GOD's will; and if talking about a savior being born and giving gifts to those who you love are pagan tradition than i wonder what religion he is following? Plus I have JW friend who on the sneak tip exchange Christmas gifts to one another. So some JW do celebrate Christmas.

Prince says how can you love the Father when you can not love the son, i think he needs to rethink those lyrics - and for those who believe in pagan traditions this is what GOD says..

John 1:3
"3Through JESUS all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." ( and that includes Christmas)

And even if Christmas started out as an “evil” holiday the word of GOD says this in Genesis through the prophet Joseph, "what the devil meant for evil God has turned it around for good" and Christmas is a good thing, very good holiday to celebrate!

That is taking scripture ENTIRELY out of context. Who are you to say that includes Christmas? Do you know the mind of God? No. So this is just your interpretation.

I think his website was exactly the place for him to spout this. That way, only a few people see it -- and he doesn't come off as a complete nutter (yet again) to the world at large.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Everybody already knows he's a complete 'nutter', he's been thru a lot of religions in his life, I really see no reason to believe he'll stick with this one forever, he's never shown loyalty to anything for too long, not even GOD. confused

Well wot can i say eek Although a lot of us joined the npgmusic club i know for a fact that most of us rarely went in2 the site due 2 it being more or less run by the ummmm how do i say it neutral The Jehovah's Witness Sect.
I for 1 had joined it for the man & his musical talents not his beliefs as most off us have beliefs of our own & yet dont preach ours to others.
Mr Prince lets keep your site for the fans & not just the religious.

Why should he shut up about his beliefs on his own website? We all give our opinions on this one. Fools.

Good old religion drags up the same old arguments lol

The historical aspect is that Christmas was aligned to fit with a pagan festival that was very popular at the time - i.e. riding on the coat tails as it were. Jesus wasn’t born in December.

However, I maybe an agnostic but I still like the Christmas ideal - which is a good one no matter what religion you are (you know, family, being together and enjoying spending time with loved ones etc..)

Religion after all is a man-made answer to the big questions. As a result of this man-made aspect... it ain’t perfect and is tinged with the discriminations, and morals of the people who created it... and as a result will always be controversial.

Anyway that’s my two cents.. lol

There is not doubt or argument that christmas has it's root in paganism. Every known religion on the planet acknowledges that fact. It has no roots in Christianity at all. By embracing it and claiming it's to honor Jesus makes it no more Christian than a banana peel. Jesus never celebrated his own birthday why would he expect us to (which again even non Christians agree that Jesus was not born in the middle of the winter)?

The Bible says all scripture is intended for teaching and at no place does anyone talk about honoring Jesus as a baby. It's an insult to honor the man, who was tortured and gave his life on behalf of us, as a baby. He did not know he was God's son until his teens. His death is what needs to remembered. He's the greatest angel in heaven, God's firstborn... the most MIGHTIEST KING anyone has ever known, but yet people think it's cute to honor him by depicting him as a drooling baby with no knowledge of who he is at that point in his life. I would be offended if my kids likened me to a baby in my 'honor'. How do you think the person that helped create us and the universe must feel?

Would you go up to an earthly King and offer to create a statue of him but tell him "I want people to remember you as a naked baby"? Yeah, that would bring him honor, right? Has any president been remembered that way? Good grief people.

Yeah he really likes looking down from heaven at how people lie to their kids about santa claus, about a large number of the population going into major debt to buy gifts, about MANY, MANY people getting depressed that they can't afford to get their kids the same cool toys that their friends at school will be getting. Yep... that's all for Jesus' benefit and honor right there I tell ya.

i see some one doesn't know there bible... let me help you, tell me what did the 3 wise man come to do? didn't hey come from the east to celebrate the birth of the Savior.. c'mon now read before you spurt out your interpretation..

Matthew 2
The Visit of the Magi
1After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi[a] from the east came to Jerusalem 2and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."

Luke 2
11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14"Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

Hey this sounds like a party to me..

they came to worship and celebrate the birth of baby jesus as said in the hilarious film talladega nights .. who prayed in baby jesus name.. i like that film...ok i'm thru. i'm going back to listening to the "united states of division.."

I tried reading the bible once. But when I got to the section where it was just this guy begat that guy,
I quickly became bored & just skipped right to the ending.
And guess what I found?
The devil did it.

Now there was a big surprise.

The reason why christians celebrate his birth is God so loved the world that he sent his only son that he may save his people. That is why his birth is celebrated and important.
