Who is "Crapples"??

Well...I'm waiting for the re-mastered version of 'Can't Slow Down' to come out

As far as Awards go,I think Prince really got a raw deal.His '1999' album should have won several major awards,but it lost out to Michael's 'Thriller',which took home 8 Grammys in one night.Then,a year later,Prince's 'Purple Rain' should have won MOST of the major awards for 1984,but it lost out to Lionel Ritchie's 'Can't Slow Down'.It won a few awards,but an album like 'Purple Rain' should have DOMINATED the Grammys (the same way 'Thriller' did the year before).

I think the problem was,the competition was so fierce back then (1982-84) and there were ALOT of landmark albums being released.Those years were the most commercially successful period for not only Prince,but also MJ,Lionel,Tina Turner,Bruce Springsteen and Madonna.

I also think the Grammys did Prince wrong by not giving him the "Album Of The Year" award in 1987 for 'SOTT'.U2 won this award,and I think Prince was a little angry about this.

You know what's funny? When I first saw Bryan Adam's 1983 video "Cuts Like A Knife",I was CERTAIN that Vanity appears in it,as the girl getting ready to take a swim.To this day,I still insist that it's either Vanity OR Apollonia.Anybody remember that video? Am I right or wrong?

Yep, it was a monumental Year. David Bowie's downfall began, but then again Let's Dance is certaintly not a bad album compared to the likes of evil shite bastard Cyndi Lauper or Boy George.

Lionel's debut as a solo artist cast him as a pop crossover to country, but he worked the bugs out on CSD.
Granted, the Carribbean funk on "All Night" seems contrived and canned, but he shows his strengths with the midtempo jams and ballads. "Penny Lover", "Stuck on You", "Love Will Find a Way", "Running With the Night" and "Hello" all tie together for a very fine album.

Now I wouldn't give you 2 cents for DANCING ON THE CEILING, but that's about when Brenda punched him out.

This guy I know was singing "Sail On" by the Commodores and I tried to tell him "Sail On" was Country music. He said "No, that's the Commodores."...I sang the song to the guy and put the emphasis on the vocal phrasing even more than Richie does - he figured it out. Richie's affinity for Country is cool, and has been there before his solo recordings. I don't dislike it. But the Pop stylings...

Didn't he write "Lady" for Kenny Rogers?
