People look at age like its a bad thing.
People here say that as he's aging, Prince has "lost his touch."

A God-given talent like his doesn't vanish or disintegrate with age. His guitar playing has improved because as he ages, he learns more and plays better.
His music lacks the "lusty lyrics" of the 80's because of his religion, but it allows him polish skills he hasn't used as much when he relied on his "lusty lyrics" to get his point across.

In exchange for what he gave up, the wisdom he gained through his personal journey is reflected in his melodies and harmonies. Somewhere here on Earth and Lion of Judah are amaong the songs he couldn't have written w/o the wisdom he gained thru experience.

This sounds a little counterproductive, but as he does age, he'll become an elder of the music business to those like me who are years younger than him. And don't they say you're supposed to respect your elders?
Just a thought.

He still looks good though and still fine....and a lot better than some people between 35 - 40 plus that he could put to shame.

Well, like I always say, you either grow old or die young. All people reading this who aren't yet 50 years old WILL be someday, unless they die before then.

I'm just glad Prince is still around making music and that his personal life hasn't followed the self-destructive path of the likes of past greats like Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, or Jim Morrison.

People in their 50s and early 60s are the coolest generation ever. They are the generation that changed everything. They left behind the goodie two shoes "Leave It To Beaver" days of innocence. They rebelled and defied the rules. They did drugs, they had permiscuous group sex, women started working, gay people flaunted their sexuality, etc. And on the musical side, they changed music for the harder best. Too bad this new generation had to go back and soften and weaken it.

Hell, I'm 40 but I wish I had been five or ten years older back in the late 70s/early 80s so I could fully enjoy things as an adult of that era. By the time I became grown, the dull asses had softened and ruined the party.

I could never associate Prince with being grumpy. Moody, yes. He has mood swings.

From the london leg of his tour, I noticed a very fresh, reinvented (yet again) Prince, prepared to offer his life and soul on a plate to the world. At a very reasonable price too. And an aftershow at 25 quid if U were lucky.

He may have another 10 years of quality shows ahead of him, and people should make the most of it around the world, coz he aint gonna live forever. I'm sure he's gonna produce others masterpieces in the studio too.

I've seen less energy from a 25 year old. I mean look at Oasis, I like there music but they R are nailed to the stage.

1958 was a pretty impressive year for entertainer births...

His melodies and his harmonies these days do not compare with what he was doing at his peak. His lyrics far from showing 'wisdom' are awful compared to what he used to do.

I can enjoy some of his more recent music and he is already an elder statesman of the music business, but it's not about his new music anymore.

What is all this business of "40 is the new 20" and "50 is the old 30"? It could just as easily be said that "20 is the new wanna-be 40" and all that. Why do we insist on still going down the road of "everything has to be equated in terms of youth?" In about a decade or so, it'll be the baby boomers that are the majority population group in this country.

Thank god Keith Richards wasn't depicted. That would really give us oldsters a bad rap. At least with Prince, you youngsters have a healthy looking, successful artist, that's an accurate image of what 50 somethings are right now.
