It has to do with subjection, not serving per se. God is the highest ruler. Christ is in subjection to him. Man is in subjection to Christ. And in the family arrangement, the wife is in subjection to the man and the children in subjection to her.
Subjection:under the rule of another or others, especially one who owes allegiance. _______________________________________________

i believe FreeChild's analysis is on the right track ... the prefix 2 the term implies the right/idea of a ‘Government of/by God’ ... its a system that encourages equal order not CONTROL over 1 another... the application u c would b a win-win outlook! I agree. If you don't like the content don't listen. Why do we not accuse everyone that ever writes a lyric of trying to brainwash us. The only reason Prince is getting it in the neck is coz he now says he is JW. So what!!!

Maybe Prince is trying to give us a solution to the the high rate of divorce. Maybe he is trying to share with us what the bible says about relationships. And why is it that when ever he talk about the bible or God, it is Self-proclaimed mumbo jumbo JW stuff? Maybe is it God ordained truth! God commands the Man to Love his Wife the way that God Loves his Church. To be willing to die for her, and God says for the woman to submit to here own husband. To compliment him, to make him look good. To make him better, stronger, smarter. If you have never tried loving your mate the way God says then you could never understand or know what he's talking about.
