I would like this song better if it was an instrumental. The lyrics are beyond ridiculous. They are, to me anyway, the worst example of Prince trying to create ghetto street cred.

The only song on the album that i like..for some reason I like parts of WE MARCH also..but Shy is the bomb !..Its the Sly Stone influence in the guitar for me. | |

I think (re: streetcred) dude was referring to "shot the boy, twice in the head, goin' back tomorrow make sure he's dead". Of course, the worst example of Prince aspiring to "Ghetto Street Cred" is My Medallion. 
Shy on the other hand is awesome, one of his best "acoustic"ish numbers. Lets hope he resurrects it soon. "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..." |

alot of love for this album lately. making me want to go listen to it, as i haven't in a while although it's one of my favorites. i had to get used to this song at first but it kicks ass. kinda country/folk-ish with a little sly and the family stone influence in there as well. love the 2nd verse. don't think it's too gangster wanna-be type. very good lyrics.
