They forgot Michael Jackson. I always found it interesting that the the three most influential, famous, and successful pop stars of the 80's were born in 1958! Purplehead

Another 10 years of shows?... Think again:)..
On the MySpace page of Greg Boyer [Prince's trombonist], I saw that one of his friends is Toots Thielemans, a Belgian jazz arist who, after emigrating to the US, made a name for himself as an accomplished guitarist. Jazz critics also place him among the greatest jazz harmonica players of the century. Well guess what, he is still performing, at 85 years old! His 'Schedule' on his website says that he played a 50 min. set on Dec. 4, and he has another one on Dec. 21. A busy man:).. So that's another 35 years of Prince shows!... Who knows, maybe he's just been warming up:) I think his passion for music will keep him going for a long, long time... just like Thielemans. These are my hopes/wishes for him anyway. darrenj said: I could never associate Prince with being grumpy. Moody, yes. He has mood swings.
From the london leg of his tour, I noticed a very fresh, reinvented (yet again) Prince, prepared to offer his life and soul on a plate to the world. At a very reasonable price too. And an aftershow at 25 quid if U were lucky. He may have another 10 years of quality shows ahead of him, and people should make the most of it around the world, coz he aint gonna live forever. I'm sure he's gonna produce others masterpieces in the studio too. I've seen less energy from a 25 year old. I mean look at Oasis, I like there music but they R are nailed to the stage. GRUMPY OLD _uckin fans, thats what I say.

I agree... I thought it strange that Michael, Madonna and Prince were all born in '58 within a couple months of eachother (Prince in June and Mike and Maddy in August). Look at the impact the three of them had in the 80's... amazing! |

TANKAEFC said: What is all this business of "40 is the new 20" and "50 is the old 30"? It could just as easily be said that "20 is the new wanna-be 40" and all that. Why do we insist on still going down the road of "everything has to be equated in terms of youth?" In about a decade or so, it'll be the baby boomers that are the majority population group in this country.
Can't wait till I turn 20 again!

I'm just glad Prince is still around making music and that his personal life hasn't followed the self-destructive path of the likes of past greats like Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, or Jim Morrison. Great post! Looks like he's still got a lot to look forward to once he hits the big 50

The AARP represents anyone over the age of 55. I think P makes a good role model for the youngsters, who have a midlife crisis at 30. When he turns 55, of course!

You know, he's just got 'young' genes or something. After looking at ;'the interviews' dvd, when he was 38 he looked about 20, no kidding!!

He certainly looks young for his age. If I didn't know I would have guessed he is probably in his mid 30's.
On the other hand, it also remind us especially those who have been fans for years (including me), that we are also growing old but not necessarily aged as well as he does.

Didn't he say he snorted his fathers ashes? I don't have to give that freak anything. The quality of a persons life by the time they have reached 50 years of age is what matters and think prince is a perfect example of a heathy attractive middle aged man.The rest is bullshit.
