The message that we need to fight injustice instead of one another is a hopeful sign. Prince reminds us that there's Love that's waiting right around the corner, that reaffirms we are not alone...even when we think we can't make it... Love opens it's arms. This song is beautiful and Ageless...
I truly feel that song | |

Hearing Purple Rain played at the LA shows in the early 1990s at the Universal Ampetheatre after the riots didnt make me cry, but I got incredible goose bumps and the crowd was electric and we were all united and looking for comfort.
that said, the last song to make me cry was when I spent my money on The Rainbow Kids or whatever that piece of shite album was called a few years back. It should have been called "The Rainbow Coaster" because it has kept my cool drinks from leaving a ring on my counter! The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. It was such an incredilbe musical moment. The tone of the guitar strings had such passion in it. The fusion of it against the backdrop of the song.A moment like that is rarely captured when it is live let alone a recorded version. Amamzing stuff. I remember the hair on the back of my neck stood up, and still does, when I hear that track. And U're EXACTLY right... he has these moments LIVE, but as brief as the solo is, I don't think he's ever captured such a passionate solo on one of his albums. On a side note, the 2nd time I saw him, in 2004, Purple Rain.... 4 reasons 2 many 2 mention, made me bawl. I Love U, But I Don't Trust U Anymore... | |
