During the Oprah(maybe spelt wrong) interview. Prince says that he is estranged from his father. Was just wondering if anyone knew why?? Maybe he tried to sue him for calling him Prince!!!!!

A lot of people don't get along with their Father or one or the other parent or maybe even both. One can be the most LOVING person in Existance and still not get along with someone else. Prince's father put him out of the house at the age of 12 and Prince had to stay at a friend's (Andre Cymone) house. He had cried at a phone booth for two hours and begged his sister to ask his dad to go back home but it was still a no. I think that particular incident had a lot to do it.

Prince has always held his father in high regard because he was a musician as well and he also admired him for his sense of style (dress and carriage).

In the end it shows a tender side of Prince when he takes care of his father towards his latter part of life. That's what a family is, in the end they are irreplaceable.

I think they had a strained reconciliation before dad died but like so many boys with their dads, P never felt that he could truly please him. read one of the books written on his life, it's in there.

Both of Prince's parents are black, light skinned blacks. He left to live with Andre Cymone because he did not get along with his step-dad, not because of Tyka. He was close to his sister, they drifted apart later when she was doing drugs and was trying to hit him for cash to support her habit. Anyway that's what I think.

Looking at that pic of his Dad reminds me of one of my maternal Uncles, who almost resembles his father in that pic. Amazing, if my mom saw that pic she would definitely agree.
