prince said that his main influance on guitar

is carlos santana and that santana plays prettier then jimi.

but as just a few second goes by while you listen to habibi
you are going to hear nothing but jimi.

althought on his fusion jazz guitar solos his phrasing resembles more santana.
do do you think prince sounded more like jimi before or now days???

i think he sounded more like jimi on his early tours when he had that beautiful distortion on his hohner, but nowdays prince have a stratocaster so will see.

jerkout

Habibi sounds sorta like Jimi. But everything else is much more Santana. Even Purple House doesn't sound like Jimi at all. The only thing Prince took from Jimi is his clothing style. Guitarwise it's 95% Santana IMHO.

Prince always sounds nice. No matter how many people have been influential.

NEITHER!!!!! BECAUSE PRINCE GIVES SANTANA MORE CREDIT THAN JIMI, WHICH IS A FU**IN' SHAME!!!!! WHEREAS JESSE JOHNSON GIVES IT UP TO HENDRIX, EDDIE HAZEL AND ERNIE ISLEY.
THAT'S WHY JESSE IS A MILLION TIMES THE GUITARIST PRINCE WILL EVER BE!!!!!
NOW SHUT THIS THREAD DOWN!!!!! END OF STORY!!!!!
cool cool cool cool cool

P.S.: DON'T BELIEVE ME??? LISTEN TO JESSE'S BRILLIANT PLAYING ON CHAKA KHAN'S COVER OF THE JIMI HENDRIX CLASSIC "CASTLES MADE OF SAND"!!!!!
cool cool cool cool cool

Hendrix is good/real good.. but he gets waaay to much praise. HE PLAYS SLOPPY!

Prince played more like Hendrix in the past because he played sloppy.... COMPARED to now!

Prince is a waaaaay better guitar player now in the 2000's then he was in the 1985-Down.

It seems Prince became a better musican when he got a professional studio Paisley Park! I think he was a Night & Day Musican from 1979-1985... then a year or to for Paisley Park 1987-2007

He was way better in 1987-2007
