It's pretty well-accepted that he recycled 1999 to write manic Monday.

can someone point out to me how these are similar i thought they were sound bites about his personal situation as they refer to borrowed love and a lover not turning up

yet more cryptic shite

its like dealing with a child who thinks we all know whats in his head and understand it all, its all so cryptic that we have to guess everything even all the stuff leading upto the o2 and the chelsea rodgers thing wtf was that all about. he definately doesnt seem in touch with reality i can imagine him telling his cronies ' hey ive got this funny idea' and they all say' go for it you rock' but the rest of the world has no idea whats goin on - crazy!

and the more cryptic he gets the more we all speculate and create rumours to discuss, why cant he just write something straight for once and btw I still dont think pfunk or now funk is a diss to the org razz

The melody is similar. Listen to the singers, not the words. Doesn't necessarily mean it was lifted, but there is definitely a similarity.

I thought that I heard some "Lolita" type synths, in Blue Limousine, previously. Now, that I've listened to Blue Limousine, in its entirety, I'm not so sure.

Prince probably did copy "Blue Limousine" a little bit, for "Lolita", which is also pathetic.

Ah, I hadn't realised that. In The Glory Years documentary, it's said that Prince came back into the studio to finish Manic Monday after he had 'dreamed' the chorus !!!!! eek confused

great lyrics i listen to it every morning walking to the train station..... very appropriate!!! smile

Yes!! I know it's not the same as 'borrowing' from someone else when you wrote both songs, it just occurred to me - I'm a bit behind the times I see lol I haven't heard Prince singing it though, would love to hear that biggrin

nod Yes, great lyrics, catchy, catchy, catchy! I wonder how many people there are in the world on any given Monday, sitting on trains, buses, planes - all humming away 'Manic Monday' to themselves lol music

Gee, what a non-issue.

Like anyone (outside the hardcore Prince fams) cares about the music of the lingerie-trio Appolonia 6? and what is the last thing we heard from the SOS-band?

Prince is sinking even lower again IMO with this shit.

At least, he could have give this discussion a POSITIVE spin and instead praise the artists who have influenced his music (often in a very obviously way), like: James Brown, George Clinton, Sly Stone, The Beatles and Joni Mitchell.

I don't see anything really serious about it.

Who else but hardcore listeners are reading the 3121 blog anyway? It's an interesting tidbit I guess.

As far as the whole positivity thing goes. It'd be fine, I guess. Although had he said something like that, most likely nobody would care. He's acknowledged most of those influences previously on several occasions. Not sure how interesting it would be for him to say it again.

Postitivity is sweet and all, but this is the kinda stuff that gets threads going. Plus there's no shortage of people who are happy to accuse him "borrowing" melodies

Thanks for the tidbit Prince! It's obvious the Minneapolis sound was well connected back then. wink

I'm curious to what Prince thinks of the more current borrowed riffs...like the new Alicia Keys song "Like You'll Never See Me Again?"

funny thing is, did prince originally borrow the snippet from jam or lewis and thus they felt it was appropriate to take it back...

after all, prince does have the reputation of "borrowing" love created during jam sessions.

just saying.

Why do you care? It is someone making a obseveration. No big deal. We also do not have any idea how old "Blue Limo" was before it turned up on AP Six's record. It could just be an inside joke between P and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

I wish people on this board would get the sticks out of their butts and calm down.
