Why are people knocking PurplePony or anyone else for listening to nothing but Prince music? I mean really, it's not that serious. :shrugs: I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

No - not looking for a medal, I just wanted to know if others have done the same. To be honest, as this is a Prince appreciation site I didn't really expect these kind of responses, but hey I'm a grown up and I can take it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Thanks for all those sticking up for me tho!

It was a great summer where P music was concerned for me. I did no such thing... but this summer was bascially a "Summer of Prince"... the most albums came into my possession in those months and I sent an hour a day listening to one... and writing down my thoughts in my notebook. Those thoughts were originally going to be taken back here and tell everyone my findings when I got the Internet back... but the world kept turning and that news became old news... This summer wasn't wasted, I enjoy every minute of it. Without the Internet, Prince made for great company. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I actually misread this thread in the beggining and thought it was someone saying that they have never listened to Prince, but having read it properly it has actually raised a question in my head, and that is have i actually listened to anything else recently. Up untill this summer, I had spent a few yrs rarely listening to Prince, except for the occassional live boot and obscure B-sides and extended versions.
However, since going to all those concerts and aftershows in summer, I have done virtually nothing else but listen to Prince, this is mainly due to expanding my collection to about triple its original size and also digging out the old classics and basically getting back into the vibe I felt 20 yrs ago. Interestingly, I have discovered alot of new stuff about the old stuff that I did not pick up on when I was younger, which is really cool. Alot of my reading material got destroyed some yrs ago, but the net is full of amazing information and strangely the Wikipedia is an unlikely but very welcome source of info. Naturally places like the org and HQ are great as well, as I dont really know that many people in my circle of friends who are into Prince, although they are all into music, heavily, but that is good, as that broadens the horizens even further. 2007 will definately be the yr I remember as when I fell in love with music again. Prince aside, there is alot of fantastic music out there, alot of which I have discovered or rediscovered this year. What makes this even more interesting, is that i have not watched MTV for almost 3 or 4 yrs now, and I rarely listen to the radio, as i cant tolerate most of the crap in mainstream today. It is sad but true, but modern music today seems focused on producing music for people who dont really like music If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

This is the place where you should be free to tell everyone about how you were blasting Prince music everywhere you went and yet folks get shot down to hell like they are the heathen. Kinda ass backwards on a fansite IMO. If anyone here plays nothing but Prince, then you play that funky music with pride and a "Kool-Aid" smile on your face too! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". No probs, i got big time into reggae this yr, i was in jamaica a few yrs ago, which kicked it off, and a polish neighbour is massive into reggae, so it all fell into one, plus i also believe that Prince is influenced in a very indirect way from reggae. If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Its because they have never had any idols or anyone to look up to, so they make fun of the ones that do because they have nothing better to do with their time. Especially seen as though its prince. Easy target. Or so they think! I know I hold you too tight, but I just can't seem to get close enough

It was like after seeing him live in Vegas (and right up close for the first time since 2002),the Superbowl performance, etc. I got back into Prince like never before, and I've been a fan since the beginning. To go back and listen to some of the really old stuff- now with the ears of an adult- has been a real kick! Not just for nostalgic reasons, but to hear what the songs are made of musically/soundwise. I've definitely been feeling our man this year- even had a pendant made of the love symbol Don't let nobody bring U down. we're like two petals from the same flower, baby...

I've done nothing but overeat and drink alcohol since August 11th. Musically I was Princing it for a while but for the last month or so my appetite has broadened back to its usual wide palette.
Currently gone Satch mad and dipping my toe into a little bit of Zeppelin, as is the current craze. As for Prince, well the 'hits' bore me tbh. Thank goodness for bittorrent and bootlegs or else I'd not have played any Prince in a little while. I like his more unusual stuff and it's also nice to hear some of the tripe that never got released. Makes you wonder what some other artists must choose not to release. Can you imagine what the Spice Girls chose NOT to record?! Doesn't bare thinking about really does it

You all need to broaden your musical horizons. Sure Prince covers lots of styles but I don't know how I could listen to only him for such a long time. Heck, I doubt I could do it for even a week.
I listen to a huge amount of artists, although Prince is a big one.

I'm with you. Since the O2 concerts I haven't really listened to much else except Prince. I think it's because I realised how much I'd missed over the last decade, (been busy!) and had a lot of catching up to do!! Nearly every 2/3 days I find another little gem, that I love, but it's a bit of an overload at the moment. Also, Prince's music is so diverse, and so good, that I haven't really felt the need to listen to much else recently. I'm just enjoying myself! [Edited 12/14/07 5:00am]

And as much as I love Prince my life would be so empty if I couldn't listen to Floyd ridiculously loud or ACDC or Queen. Hell, what would my poor wife do if she couldn't have the Kaiser Chiefs and the Fratellis blasting out when she was drunk. And how would we have kitchen karaoke without Abba Raspberry Beret may have a tune to sing along to but it sure doesn't compete with Waterloo I can tell you!
On a different note... I made a veg soup a few weeks ago. Some of it just got discovered in the back of the fridge. Wish I hadn't taken the lid off. I should have just binned it. Stink?! It's fucking awful. Worse than 2Girls1Cup I reckon.
