We know he excists. I got a playlist with b-sides and even the bad ones fromt he old days are mildly listenable.

But I also put the internet singles of late on there, as it is a continuation of non-album material.

Yes. Most tracks were awright, but not stellar, like the title song. Have A Heart is okay. But the album carries the burden of Young And Beautiful and a song that contains the word 'baklava', a word that should not be uttered in popular song ever.

Also, the album contains Avalanche, a song in which Prince tries to force modern day believes and politics on a historic situation, which makes him OR naieve OR stupid OR too lost inside a make believe world OR all of the above. I was already lost to whatever cause Prince was rooting for with the album before that, but this song just confirmed it for me; where in the past Prince had written a WHOLE bunch of songs that were in tune with my own life, from this song on his new music and I were to be just casual friends.

I love all of the songs. They all have a lot of ambiance and tenderness to me. Unlike albums like Planet Earth that feel more like a collection of songs, ONA has a real flow to it; even subtle touches like the owl in the background add to the atmosphere of a man all alone at his piano thinking aloud.

I even like Young and Beautiful. It has a certain Little Richard-esque energy to it that works for me.

It also has his most underrated, most stunning instrumental ever as a closer. If NEWS had been filled with numbers like Arboretum, I would have considered it one of Prince's greatest albums.

I can understand your frustration with Avalanche, but that song is still a stunner. It reminds me of one of Chopin's old dark piano compositions; it's really haunting.

I feel that way about much of TRC, as well. I know it's incredible musically, and I want to love it, but there's just so much I can't get past, lyrically.

I had the same problem with Planet Earth. It's the curse of being writer, I guess. You want the lyrics to match up to the music.
