My guess it the funk/rock, "black/white" blended style of rock that the Camille persona displayed so well.

Unfortunately when dealing with Prince's statements or lyrics, one really needs to do a certain amount of speculation based off of previous life experiences and statements. In addition, sometimes one must look at the whole lyrical content of a certain song rather than center on the single line or chorus used.

If you listen to the rest of PFUNK, you get a sense that he is speaking about being done wrong again. That someone is trying to do him in--that indeed, he's a slave.

But what is he a slave too? What is he being bothered by? Well obviously, it's not one single thing but a collective here. Prince says "Ya'll" several times in his warnings to the object of his song. In addition whenever he uses his Camille voice, he's normally vacillating between profane and spiritual, between sex and religion.

This ofcourse requires a certain diagnosis of whether PFUNK is necessarily a spiritual song. When you go through the lyrics, you'll see that this song is not a Clarion call to the spiritual life, nor does it specifically beg one to ponder anything beyond the material world. This leads us to only one conclusion--this song is about vaginas. Prince obviously is still very obsessed with vaginas.

The problem is that "Rock" has never been a metaphor in Prince's lyrics about vaginas. Moreover, if you go through his late 80s material (The black Album) such as on songs in "Rock Hard in A Funky Place", he proclaims "I just hate to see an erection go to waste..I'm just rock hard in a funky place...." So in this particular instance, he's speaking about a penis--and in a very coy way, not telling if it's his penis or another man's penis. Sure, he's erect in the song--but he never says that he is the only one that is erect. Moreover, he never mentions vaginas in that song. No scarlet pussy, no furry melting thing.

So we can only ascertain that co co Rock means penis. Prince, by using his Camille voice is saying that he is a vagina in a subliminal way, and proclaiming that he's crazy about dick in a subversive way. The lyrics are brilliant if you think about it.

Close but no banana Imago.

Co-co rock actually represents his replusion of sweaty balls. It covertly recalls an encounter he had with sweaty balls, I speculate this encounter happen recently, probably with a fan in a warm climate such as Florida. Prince went from performing in his black undies at the beginning of his career to being a free ranger today. What caused this change? No not religion. It was someone with sweaty balls stealing his black walmart undies. I speculate, the pevert has been wearing them ever since, and most likely openly boosting about wearing them without incriminating themselves as the thief.

Not so fast, Starrbooty.

I think you've both touched upon some extremely brave and salient points in your summaries, but for all your pontificatey architecture I find it frustrating that you can't put your finger on the pulse, or even project an accurate orbit around the appropriate moon of accuracy.

It's like this: Most vampire literature succeeds in marrying sympathetic readers with otherwise loathsome characters, because the archetypical vampire is not so much a villain as s/he is an "anti-hero". Sure, the ultimate goal of a vampire is the taking of human life, but more often than not in vampire lit, our fanged "anti-hero" meets their ultimate demise by way of a wily, deceptive human vampire-slayer. Even though the Van Helsings and Buffys of the world should be viewed as heroic, there is a thread of antipathy for these characters, because part of us wants to side with the fantastic personage of the vampire. After all, they rule the night.

Which brings me to Prince. And Count Chocula.

As anyone who has endured one of Prince's aftershows is well aware, Prince rules the night (not unlike our aforementioned anti-heroes). In his song "PFUnk", Prince makes a veiled reference to a chocolate-flavored children's cereal (Cocoa Puffs). I posit that his reference was indeed a double entendre, in which his reference was actually meant to represent a popular children's cereal named after a chocolate vampire (namely, Count Chocula).

Perhaps this is a clue as to Prince's latest alter-ego. Perhaps the high-pitched baton of Camille has been placed firmly at the doorstep of Castle Chocula. Perhaps we all have something to learn here.

I do think balls have something to do with it too, though.

Good points my weemoliscious friend.
I think you're clutch your pearls right now that you're starting to see the light.
Consider the follow lyric:

How you gonna cap and be gone?
I hate to let you know, but its on!
You might not like the taste,
But, I'm gone stick your face in this funk! (stick your face in it)

Prince is letting you know he' got ya, you're his!
You're going to take what Prince feeds you.
Clearly this is about breast feeding you silly little baby.
He is going to give you all the spiritual food you need.
It's his chocolate breast milk.
He will keep you warm in his bosom.
He won't leave you lonely like the time you went looking for a gay bar in Branson, Missouri you salt and pepper slut!
You can't cap the flow!
Suck It UP!!

Well other than maybe a play on the "Koo koo for Cocca Puffs" line.

I thought Co-Co- Rock may have been about Chocolate Rock.

the blend of Black and White rock and funky that Prince creates.

Plus its an old Camille line that works as well now as it did back in the 80's.

It just proves the Camille side of Prince gets funkier and funkier as time goes on.

2008 will probably be amazing.
