Response from Guitarist (UK's most established mag).

Hi Guitarist,

I sincerely hope one of you guys managed to attend the recent Prince tour. And hopefully an aftershow performance too? Assuming you did how come there has been no coverage of it in the magazine? Did you not rate his playing? Read the appraisal by Brian May on his blog? If that guy rates Prince as worldclass then surely there must be something there to report?

Anyway I doubt very much to see an interview but a little bit of coverage on this very overlooked guitarist wouldn't hurt surely? Lots of people are blinkered regarding this outstanding musician, both to his music (and contribution to it) and to his playing style.

Kind Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your email. It wasn't through lack of trying - we put in a request for an interview, but Prince doesn't seem to do guitar magazine interviews anymore, if he ever did so in the first place.

And we love his playing style, his stagecraft, etc etc. We even like some of his songs.

Regards,
Owen

So there you go. Hard to promote an artist's abilities when he is so reluctant to allow any media to be reproduced or give insight into what makes him tick. Chances of seeing one of Prince's songs tabbed out in Guitarist Magazine? Sod all. Chances of anything else by any other artist? Very likely. Happens every month in fact.

Prince, sometimes you're a real nob. Or an enigma. Not sure which or when.

They should have still gone to an aftershow and done a write up. You don't always get interviews with others as well not just Prince. They are a lil lazy if you ask me smile

The reply didn't state if they had been to any of the shows. And it's Guitarist not NME. Don't think their guys chase around getting stories smile

Yep I get where you're coming from that they aren't centred around reviews(btw its not only NME that does reviews you don't have to be a teen indie fan to obtain a review of live music...) But where I'm coming from is.... if they are so into guitar and hes known to be good... why not go along and comment on it in a guitar mag? smile
