I don't know either way whether he's gay or straight. I just think it's stupid to assume he's heterosexual and put so much energy into rabidly defending that "fact". We're not in his head, so we don't know. Ok, just wanted to make sure I got you.

Thanks for not answering my question. Let's go over this again. You said people who label Prince as gay do so out of disgust or to ridicule him. I asked, what about the fans who do the same? His fans are people too. And for the record, if he did turn out to be gay I'd still be a fan. I still love Boy George's voice and still love George Michael's "Faith" album(although it does sound rather Princley)>

I've accepted that Prince doesn't get the recognition he deserves, why haven't you? Like ir or not, Prince is not on the same page as people like Angelina Jolie in the eyes of the general public. They simply do not care as much about his life or habits, thank God. Money? 15 minutes of fame? A book deal? Who the hell from? Most of the populace and a good chunk of steady music fans and specifically, Prince fans, already think he's gay or bisexual. Money and book deals are only offered up to those revealing something scandalous, and in this case, most would not see any scandal. Revealing a secret gay affair with Prince would be, in the eyes of the general public, (you know, those people who buy books about famous folk and watch shit like ET) about as shocking as revealing a secret gay affair with Elton John. Ok Ok Ok I get your point. But Elton's never really been in the closet. I do remember a former wife of his saying she'd be the best husband he'd ever had back in the 80's. P.S. What you said in the bold print is too funny, true but funny.

vainandy said: Not necessarily. Prince could have had sexual partners who were in the closet also. If they came forward with their stories, they would be outing themselves also and a closeted person wouldn't want to do that. Also, as flaming as Prince is, I picture him going after the extremely masculine men that you would never think was gay or bisexual and 90% of them are in the closet. So what you're saying is that Prince would be the woman in the relationship?

VenusBlingBling said: I know this topic has been duscussed over and over again, but I need to get this off of my chest. I am so darn SICK of these two comments far too many have to utter!!!! Almost every time I mention Prince to someone in their teens and twenties te first thing I hear is "Prince, isn't he like gay?". What the HECK has that to do with his music and so what if he were??? Then as the conversation continues and race comes up in the discussion it's: "what, Prince is black?? No, he can't be."
People must be blind and deaf. Why is it so hard for people to go beyond his appearance and falsetto? And how can we still live in a time where only hard core music fans seem to know anything about Prince? I try to ignore it, but it makes me sad to see how ignorant people are. I agree. I am 26 but I have the maturity level to not give a damn about someone's sexuality. In my opinion Prince is not gay. Definitely not. Anyway though I just enjoy his music. He has created many beautiful bodies of work. I do have a bit of a crush on him too. Life Is What You Make It...

I now what you mean. It really dissapoints me that so many people seem to say that about him. Over the years I have learned to make Prince my "private joy". Because it's kind of lonely being a Prince fan in America. His "image" has never really gone over well in an overly macho and masculine oriented American society. American audiences have always seemed to be confused by his image. I remember I got teased and bullied on a daily basis in elementry school for admitting that Prince is my favorite singer. Even my older brother and sister make fun of me for it till this day but mostly in a teasing way not in a cruel way. Everytime the holidays come up and they visit, they ask me what bands or singers I'm currently listening to and I say I still love Prince, that always makes things quiet at the dinner table. My parents always have supported me for loving Prince though. They always tell me "Pat there's nothing wrong with you at all, just keep being the happy positive guy you are and if Prince makes you happy then you go ahead and listen to him!" I hate that it's like so many people in America make you feel like you should be ashamed of being a Prince fan like there's something wrong with that...Well guess what? I'm not anymore I am PROUD to love and support the music of Prince!
