If Prince never had fans... Is his ego so big to think that he would still be where he's at today if he never had fans? Where would he have gotten the support to record new albums and go on tour. No one would support you unless there was some kind of return on the investment, and the only way to ensure this return is by building up a fanbase. Is Prince seriously at the point where he's gonna kiss us goodbye? Without us, would there ever have been a 1999, Purple Rain, Parade, SOTT, or Lovesexy? Were we not the ones who kept him going? He was talking about changing careers after his third or fourth album, but then he got so popular, his record company extended his contract. He went through "tough" times from about 1993 through 2003 (with a couple exceptions), but we were still around to support him, buy his records, go to his shows, help build his websites, support his charity, go to the Celebrations, and have fun with him at the aftershows, soundchecks, online chats, etc. When he bragged about how much money he made off of Crystal Ball, who did he think he was getting the money from? When he had the biggest selling US tour of 2004, who did he think was buying the tickets? Yeah, he's been around so long now he could kiss us all goodbye and make a pretty decent living off of his previous work. Based on his name alone, he can now sell out small clubs in big cities for a thousand dollars a ticket even if only he were there to read out of the phone book. He can now hide away somewhere spending the rest of his life filling his overgrown ego with even more head knowledge, impressing no one else but himself. Is Prince seriously this selfish and arrogant enough to think he's been able to do any of this without the support of his fans? Does he truly want to battle us knowing what the end result could easily become? Ever had a relationship where someone broke your trust? How hard was it to win it back?

What the heck are you talking about? Prince never said he did not want fans. Just because he is trying to clean up some things on the internet and take back control of what he created in the first place, does not mean he does not care. You'd be surprised how many of Prince's fans have never even been on any web sites and don't give a hoot what he does on the world wide web. Prince and his music have existed LONG before this and trust me he will continue to have fans for years to come, no matter what. If people are sitting around waiting for Prince to change his mind and say "okay go ahead a do what you want" you are sadly mistake.
