I think the Diamonds & Pearls tour is even more embarrassing than the Nude Tour
I sold my tickets for the Rotterdam concerts after I saw the Dortmund show ...
One slick concert is more than enough

ACT 2 was the worst tour...but worst ever gig for me was the 3rd Aug show at the O2 this year.

It was shocking and half arsed...turns out he was somewhere in Europe during the day shooting the new video for S.H.O.E...explains why he couldnt wait to get to get off stage and back to bed I suppose

And the Joy in Repetition/Anotherlover/Peach sequence from that night (never repeated on the 21 Nights) was excellent.

Nude Tour yes. Bland hits revue before he needed to do so. Although I'd probably prefer it to the jazzy funk jam noodlings of modern times.

I've always felt that he's the most amazing live performer. I guess I would vote for the Jam of the Year tour to answer your question--it was a tad dull and could have been more exciting, I think. But I don't think he's ever put on a bad tour. Bad shows here and there, sure--but not a whole tour.

I totally agree with you...there were a couple of not-so-great shows in his career, or several incidents where fans were treated in a very disrespectful way, or when the musicianship was a bit sloppy ( forgetting lyrics, playing wrong, technical problems etc.etc.) but still, even on his worst day, he´s still lightyears better than any other entertainer I´ve ever seen in my life, and I ´ve seen quite a lot of concerts from different genres.

That being said, people should also consider the background, the personal tragedies, the financial pressures etc. He went through all this and was still ( or especially because of those factors) doing his thing like only he could, and that, in my opinion , is a great inspiration for me , and probably for lots of other folks.

i would have 2 say it's the jam of the year tour and the O2 arena

the musicianship of the jam of the year/nps review whatever was so horrendous at times that it just made it that less enjoyable. even the aftershows that were done during that tour weren't all that good. now it could have been because the musicians weren't all that great (kiry j on the drums rolleyes) and the constant additions and subtractions of band members didn't flow that well.

the o2 arena tour was just a joke period..come on that sampler set? falloff damn i never heard him that lazy b4 until then.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

pass the peas is not a prince tune tho and i've listened 2 that whole show and it didn't impress me at all. a friend of mine also heard the same show and is a fan as well and all they kept doing with each song was either rolleyes their eyes or laughed at the setlist

Oh god, that's so funny because I've got a boot of May 28 1992 in Rotterdam and it has my absolute favourite version of Purple Rain ever, I would've killed to have been there!

I really enjoyed the Nude tour.

Much more stripped down than the previous 2, and it was a welcome change. I also loved the fact that he gave the horns a break and started playing guitar more again (Lovesexy was great, but lacked Prince on lead a lot of the time). I'm guessing thats why he called it "Nude".

There was a little too much keyboard, but give me keys instead of horns on 1999 any day of the week!

I also LOVED the fact that this is one of the few tours where he played the majority of songs in full! Highlights were Nothing Compares 2 U, Baby I'm a star, The Question of U and Theives in the temple.

I think the opening full medley of "Nude", The Future/1999/Housequake/Sexy Dancer/Kiss without breaking the beat was the best opening section of any show to date.

I think the worst tour was the New Power Soul tour. Very poor by Prince's standards. Dougie, Larry and Chaka should have stayed at home. This was the point where Prince's music started to regress back to "old school". The instrumentation improved, but that doesn't make a good show on its own.
