at the time, the comic book market was having a boom. it was a very hot business. everything had a comic back then. people, movies, books, shakespeare, video games, the NFL, etc.

besides, he and DC comics were under the same Time Warner corporate umbrella. athough, this one in particular isn't one i've read and it the logo in the top left doesn't look like it's from DC.

yeah, it's a DC comic...i think that logo is "pirhana press", which was part of DC.

and i don't think it was anything major - lots of pop stars have had "official" comic books - KISS, alice cooper, the ramones, etc. - it's just a bit more goofy memorabilia for prince collectors, i guess.

I used to have this a long time ago. But my apartment flooded while I was away and it was one of the casualties. I lost lost lots of 12" vinal too. I cried that day.

ive never seen nor heard of this.

is it hard to get??

Impossible. It was a early 90's thing and I have scoured the internet and cannot replace it. I loved it as the character was called Gemini which is my star sign.

There were 2 comics, weren't there? And then a couple of those cheapy rock-star profile ones done by other companies.

yeah, there was a 'three chains'o'gold' comic book tie-in, and there was an issue of the indie comic "rock'n'roll" that did a biography of prince. kinda cheesy, but kinda cool if you're not expecting too much.

I remember these comics, cant remember which one but i thought the one where he hits someone with a baseball bat, then says "Im BatMan" was pretty funny.

i used to have this comic, i dont remember a second one being published. Unfortunately it went amiss like many other valuable books and prince stuff I had when renovations where done to my home, I was away at the time and apperantly it got destroyed, my guess is that it went in the bin. At least the music collection survived

I've seen this whole thing scanned on the net. I'll see if I can find it in a while.

I bought it, put it in a plastic bag tucked it into my college yearbook, and haven't thought bout it since till this thread.

Probably the only thing I bought for collecting.

They may be identical to eachother. I don't recall.

I have the 3 chains o gold and the yellow guitar one.

I like them. Just something from a different era that is good to look back on from time to time.

3 chains was in a housequake thread, in the picture sectioo but it might be gone because of recent events.

i wish i had those comics, they would have been a GORGEOUS read

if i had the money i would have a comic book made of me/ something wild? we are all about 36 and we want a comic book for the holidays. who.s brave enough to buy and admit?

There is actually another one. It's one of those rock star profile ones, but it's a double-feature, with Madonna. She's on the cover. It's mostly text, with some illustrations drawn from photos.
