Do you think Oprah is still a Prince fan? Unless I'm mistaken, she hasn't had the brotha on her show in a while.

I'm surprized that Oprah didn't have him killed and thrown in a lake after that interview. Nobody lies to the queen of the empire. She probly doesnt appreciate that. Besides, I doubt Prince would do it again, she is too probing. Otherwise, he probably would have done it in 04.

What did he lie about? | |

Oprah's very successful schtick is to fawn all over the Superstar de Jour she's booked on her show as her all-time favorite singer/actor/author/whatever.
Yesterday, Prince. Today, Brad. Tomorrow, J.K. Rowling. The next day, Whoever. The cycle is never-ending.

Let's not forget, she did get on that stair climber wearing every damn piece of Prince merchandise available through 1800newfunk, singing along to Emancipation like it was her most favorite song in the world...

That was funny and reeked of desperation...I love Oprah though. She's an inspiration to many sisters.

I thought that was hilarious because everyone knew she was faking that shit. When the cameras turned off, I bet she threw that CD away and put in some damn Oleta Adams "Get Here When You Can". . . I don't think Oprah has ever been a Prince fan. She was so fake in that interview. I don't really understand all her success, she's not a good interviewer, and neither is Larry King - they both need to disappear and never ask another question again.

Oprah is only a fan of herself, and other celebs are just an afterthought to make her look better. Don't believe it? Watch her show and see how she cuts everybody off so that she can get HER point across. So, with that being said, I don't think that she is still a Prince fan.

oprah had the measure of p b4 she met him....she knew she had a challenge on her hands!
i thought she looked more comfortable in her interview with him, than others i've seen who have interviewed p, but was still a cringefest at least she'll have won the award 4 'most obvious desperate promotion of something she didn't really dig..' & yh shes a big girl. i'm sure she still loves him.

Prince is not a big fan of Oprah. Soon after the show aired, Prince played a concert in Chicago. The same night Tina Turner played in Chicago. Oprah attended the Tina Turner concert. Prince made some comment about Oprah missing the show. Prince stated that he heard Oprah was at the Tina concert and that he was going to make her wish she was at the Prince concert. It was the NAACP Image Awards, the year they gave him the Vanguard Award. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

That is so annoying. The purpose of an interview is to ask the guest questions, not answer them herself

Besides, I doubt Prince would do it again, she is too probing. Otherwise, he probably would have done it in 04. I'm sure she would have understood about things like grief, denial and even shock and have been completely understanding and sympathetic about the whole situation.

He lied & claimed his son was still alive. He didn't exactly lie, he skirted around the issue, didn't want to discuss his death. He said something like 'don't believe what you hear, it's all good'. In P's mind his son's soul was coming back as another child in the future, and that seems to be how he was dealing with the grief. [Edited 11/28/07 2:04am]

[Edited 11/27/07 12:39pm] What? Prince and Tina Turner played Chicago the same night. Oprah decided to go to the Tina Turner concert. Prince made a comment about he heard that Oprah went to the Tina concert. Prince then went on to say how his concert is going to be much better and he was going to make sure he put on a great show so that Oprah wished she was there. I don't think Prince forgets those things.

[Edited 11/28/07 2:04am] He said "It's all good. Nevermind what you read." So yeah, he didn't exactly lie straight out & say "My son is alive & well," but that's the implication, unless he wanted people to believe "I'm happy he died." His intent was to mislead. If not, he could have simply said "I'm not going to talk about it. It's too personal." In this case, he at least proved he can lie with the best politicians!

I think in this case, he's allowed some leeway - hopefully none of us on here have experienced the death of our baby, but I wouldn't blame anyone for anything they did or said a week after the heartbreak and devastation of that! It doesn't affect any of us - it was a sad time... I think we should just leave it be.
