3121 is easily his best album of these three. His screaming tirade towards the end of The Dance shows more emotion and passion than anything on Planet Earth and Musicology combined.

Musicology was Prince meticulously crafting the least risky, least offensive album possible, and Planet Earth is Prince at his most juvenile and simplistic.

3121 loses its way when it repeats more trite, formulaic numbers like Satisfied and Incense and Candles, but spread throughout are some really surprising little gems. Love has the most infectious chorus he's crafted in years, The Dance is a haunting, majestic ballad, and the title track is dripping with Camille-like attitude.

It's a solid return to pop form.

The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I gotta admit, you make a really strong case here... I agree completely with the things you've said about 3121, especially with the different tracks. The Dance ranks up there with The Beautiful Ones when it comes to passion... beyond amazing. Love is also one of my favorites.

Makes me really regret some of the things I've said against it. But I think PE has made me appreciate 3121 more... but not for the same reasons other people would say. cool
