Rolling Stones: A Good Read about Prince's Hidden Gems

Here is a link to an article that ran in Rolling Stone magazine around the time that Planet Earth came out. It talks about the numerous "gems" that prince recorded that are not as mainstream... A good read.

The interpretation of Prince's Music is wrong. Prince is not having sex with cars! There is an extreme amount of disrespect in the world these days.

I could never fuck a car.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

It's just that I really think that I would find that fact that I'm not substantial enough to fill up the gas-tank nozzle a bit emasculating.
Also, if I accidently got any gasoline on my johnson rod, I'd fear that it would sting.
And though I have no experience to back it up, I'm assuming that I'm sensitive like that.

And, to be honest, just the whole idea of it doesn't do anything for me.
No matter how much junk in the trunk there is or even just a simple lube job,
I don't find anything attractive about the whole subject.

Actually, not such a bad list - Everyday is a Winding Road and One Of Us is bullshit, but kudos on them mentioning good non-80s stuff like Mad Sex, I Like It There, and My Computer.

Prince's list of non-single gems though is longer than the list of single release gems, so picking out ten is kinda like shooting fish in a barrel. cool

Quote from the article:

“P. Control” on The Gold Experience (1995)
No, really, really excellent sex, complete with one of Prince’s only competent hip-hop jams, from an album unfortunately remembered for the sappy ballad “The Most Beautiful Girl In The World.” Although even that one isn’t bad. Ladies, start your little red Corvettes!

How inaccurate can you get. "P Control" is not about sex and "The most beautiful girl in the world" is most well known from the single released a couple of years before "The gold eperience".
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

i think it's a positive article. i'm sure that any hardcore fan would agree that there's always one or two songs that we love on each release, no matter how we feel about the total thang.

prince's output is sometimes like a book...you get the intro, ascendency to the plot's climax, and the zenith reached depends on ur preferences
