Ok, while recent events might better classify the man as a control freak douche bag, I've been wondering about this lately. One of Prince's most publicized beefs with WB was the fact that they wanted him to restrict the amount of music he released, while he wanted to release more. Yet, aside from Emancipation & Crystal Ball, he's pretty much continued releasing music at the same pace as he always had, maybe even less. What gives? Surely he drummed up a lot of fan interest in his release from his WB contract with the promise of more music, but with the last big offering being Crystal Ball & that being nearly 10 years ago, were we all duped? Did he shoot his creative wad long ago & we're now only seeing the crappy late-period leftovers from a washed up former icon?

he held back The Black Album for years
then made a half-million from WB when officially released

As far as artist's go...There is a point that an artist can reach where they know, that to create something, comes so naturally, the only place they can wash up is on the shores of heaven. Prince has accomplished musical style, performance, and contributed beauty to the world.

What Prince does from here on can only be generous. Prince must certainly say, as he closes his eyes at night, that he doesn't have anything to prove. Out of the kindness of his heart he keeps going, for us fans, or fams or friends.

I know that money, can help the world, and that money has to come from a lot of places...It takes determination and courage, in a rough world, to plant seeds of love, and nurture those seeds like a gardener.

Prince could wake up every morning, play his guitar for the walls or the forest all day, and we wouldn't hear another song. I would hope that wouldn't happen.

I agree with wlcm2thdwn: he changes his mind a lot.
He said it himself,"I'm a bundle of contradictions."

In all seriousness, though, at some point in his life/career, Prince has lied... possibly more times than anyone could count. But I've got been things to do than count up the lies he's told. If anything, he lies to protect himself from whatever. He's very cautious, yet unpredictable, that one.

But everybody lies. Prince isn't extempt from that part of human condition.
I'll just go some more at the title.

I do agree he does change his mind alot...maybe a case of bi-polar? Maybe he just doesnt like the same thing twice or for too long- changing up his concerts (no 2 the same), making apperances 1 moment.and the next become as mysterious as a ghost. Being generous to his fans and showing up and doing a gig at a local club and then being horrible and missing an aftershow which people payed alot of money to go to.
