So, on iTunes, the new song has 927 reviews, 2 1/2 stars average rating.

I think the thermometer has popped, and Prince is done.

On UK itunes there are 26 reviews posted. 20 of them give 5 stars (nothing under 4) and all rave about the song. I'm not sure how many people have downloaded it, not sure how to get that info yet.

Maybe Prince should come and live in the UK, where he's appreciated!!

on an unrelated note.. Prince is possibly one of the most popular artist on iTunes, and his new single is getting promoted very heavily on the front of iTunes page... and it still can't make the top songs list.

I would say that at least 25% of those reviews were made by non-fans (or pissed off ex-fans) and just listened to the short sample.

I believe the more accurate average would be 3 1/2 to 4 stars which is fairly good.

Prince can certainly whip up a frenzy.

It will be interesting to find out if it charts!

I'm a huge fan of Prince, and I downloaded/bought the single, but it's still garbage. Prince could do better, and make a song with a more positive message.

Considering that "F.U.n.k." is an insult filled brat attack, put to music, I'm surprised that any reviews are good. I haven't been to iTunes, but I would guess that many would post negativity without hearing, just because of the Prince climate.

Anyone who thinks those reviews actually reflect the quality of the tune is simply, retarded. 900+ reviews, God knows how many references to "alvin", "chipmunk", or "helium", etc., it's easy to see that the vast majority of 1-2 star reviews are likely from people simply trying to drive down the average via pure, unadulterated hateration. Some of the reviews aren't even reviews of the song itself, just attacks on Prince and the website tomfoolery. Some simply ask why the high voice. I mean, it's kinda dishearting seeing how childish people can get when they think someone's not doing things the way they think they should be done.

In contrast, Beyonce's single was released, and only has 32 reviews. How backward is that. It's painfully apparent that Prince's reviews are the result of simple immaturity and hateration. It makes one wince to read what some apparently consider reviews.

i guess he learned his lesson, that song was strictly for/aimed/makes sense to fan/ms. it's really not a bad track at all, most of the lousy ratings were due to itunes making the worst preview ever in the history of itunes. that plus people who aren't really a fan were confused by the Camille voice (but fans seem to adore it) hopefully his next itunes attempt will be more broad (hint hint if a certain s.o.m.e.o.n.e. is reading this )
