No, it's what you're supposed to do with the 3121 perfume on your body, so you use it up, and buy more...

No, it's what you're supposed to do with the 3121 perfume on your body, so you use it up, and buy more... It plays well with the song, too. Splash for women. Splash (Cool Embrace) for men. Only Prince body splash sounds better than 3121 body splash. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

i agree 100%. i cannot think of anything on the radio that sounds anything like the song. it's in a class of its own and crosses more than one genre including reggae and jazz.

I heard the song on 3121 but by seeing your lyrics I just thought did P. sing this? and checked again, there is no :embarrased: icon so I will use And I am actually starting to like the song, I had to listen several times. It's a softie song, cute. I like the guitar/piano part at the end, sounds familiar.

I like the song alright. It's catchy and it's cute and it sounds gorgeous. It just isn't that interesting to me. When the whole NPG Music Club thing wrapped up after the first year, I remember thinking "Of all the awesome material that Prince produced in the mid-80's that he could offer to his fans now, why is it that one of the few things from that classic period we got was 'Splash'?"
It's just that we know there's stuff that's so much better. Why this?

I dont hate it, but its definitely not a 'winner'.
I can see why it has never been officialy released. Its more a 'sketch', an attempt, then a truelly impressive song. But, how much the period with Wendy and Lisa is hailed afterwards, of course that period delivered 'clunkers' too.

It's a cute, nice and interesting song but definately not better than anything on ATWIAD or Parade. For once, P's song choices were on the money. Except Love or Money, Honest Man, Sexual Suicide and Alexis should've found their way on Parade (Double Album!) People make too big a deal out of W&L contributions. Prince knew when and how to use their musical influences.

Prince knew when and how to use their musical influences. I get a lot more out of listening to Splash then any of the tracks I mentioned, it's more vibrant, admirable, and memorable for me. I'd say something like Do U Lie is a complete throwaway cutesy track. Splash's giddiness is forceful and takes it into a realm of intensity that really sounds "high" on the emotion. The other tracks sound less expressive and much more calculated and cold, even lifeless t me. They always have. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid
