Maybe images of Prince, merely represent the past to him. When I was divorced, I threw a zillion photo's away, even if I looked good. I remember saving a couple from the day we married...But I cut him out of them.

I am not saying that Prince has done this with his photograph's because most of them were "Superstar" related.

Throwing away images of yesterday, is sometimes something people do to heal.
I was happy to have the control to destroy, still moments of my life.

Where Prince is concerned, he probably just wants the control to lock them into his own private chest, for his own person. I really don't think money has anything to do with it....

Do u think that removing the photo's are about money? Or living for the "NOW" ?

Its probably a mixture of both....

Whilst I do believe The son of a King has the right to make a polite request regarding the sharing of pics he doesnt have rights to irrespective of his reason (he might not like his hair do or sumink)

I also think that door swings both ways, so peeps that love to post pics ( of him in a less than favorable light can politely decline his polite request not to post.

He does get paid: everytime someone posts a pic of him--with SOURCE credit--Prince gets free publicity. Of course, it's not monetary, but hey.. posting pics is a way of keeping his name out there--another celebrity freebie! As far as negative pics, some say that even negative publicity is better than no publicity at all.

As long as people are posting their source and not profitting from the pics, I'm not so sure it's a copyright violation. It's PRINCE who is ultimately profitting because he doesn't have to PAY for publicity. He's saving money.

That's just one way of looking at it.

the way I see this thing with Prince and his image is that he allowed
us to use them freely for years. I think that he sincerely got pissed
at some of the mean things that were said about him here and other places,
and thought to himself, "okay, if ya'll are going to slam my dignity,
then kiss my ass."

i must say that i really enjoy posting Prince pics, but the way the vibe
has been with this PFU thing, you feel as if doing it is going against
those who are supposed to be fans.

That's why he changes his mind about so much, because what feels right in this moment and catches his interest, may not do so in the next moment when something else feels right and catches his interest. However, I do agree that the images are "past" related, in the sense that Prince (within his chosen religion) has seen that who he is in this moment as a spiritual and/or religious person, is not reflected in his past actions, or past look. When someone looks at those images and sees who Prince was, and expects Prince to be the same person now that he was then, then all of his Biblical study, all of his worship, is just negated in that person's mind. He has grown as a spiritual/religious person, but with these constant reminders of who he was 20 years ago so freely exchanged on the internet, it's hard to move beyond the reputation he had then. Also, with the reputation he is establishing for himself NOW, when new fans/fams discover his music and sees who Prince was years ago, they may mistakenly believe that he is that person instead of who he is now, and therefore may miss the point of his current music. So in a sense, I do think that it is a reflection of living in this Moment, living in the Now, but only because he is attempting to dispel his past reputation, and get people to see who he is in this moment.

I think he just wants to clean up his image and have some control over what the media sees of him, but he can't erase his past. I really think the JW's have most to do with it!
