So true. Unless you read the booklet, you wouldn't know they were on there! Its like Kate Bush on My Computer....she may have well not been on there. That said, I like Rave Un2. I felt Rave In2 was week. I was good to see winding road slashed and beautiful strange added, but the remixes were weak! .

rlittler81 said: I was disappointed after the first listen, nothing really stood out that much. Gone back to it a few times but to me it's just like D&P: a bid a commercial success. Production is a bit plastic, overall too contrived for my liking. Rave In2 only slightly better imo.
B4 the week I spent with the album (and ultimately the reason why I spent a week with it)... this was a month or two before. I was in the funkiest mood with 's music... just one of those really weird moments along this journey. It was the first album that made me think that was weird or bizarre... and I try to avoid calling him such because that's what those who don't know his music and only know how the media portrays him call him. It was too long for me and I think that 5 minute long commerical and hidden track pushed me over the edge. So I returned to the album and liked it a whole lot better. Only 5 days into the week did I start to think I was getting sick of it. I usually don't mull over my albums for that long, especially not taking one completely on its own. A little commerial yes... but what's wrong with a little commericialism every now and then? Because he's being commercial doesn't mean that Prince isn't Prince, right? Purple Rain was made out to be a commerical album and people seem to love that one. The tracks that kinda keep the album down for me are Hot w/U, So far so pleased, Silly Game, Baby Knows (don't like country or care for Sheryl Crow much ) and occasionally the title track or Undisputed. The tracks are good, but sometimes when they drag on (Hot w/U especially), I get bored after a while. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

If it had been released right before or right after The Gold Experience, it would have been well recieved. So Far, So Pleased is awesome, it sounds like it's straight from the late 80's early 90's. Just bad marketing, and bad timing. Awesome album. That's my opinion.
There are calssics on Rave Such as Man O War, Silly Games & I don't trust you anymore but thats it. We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

I don't LOVE it. I always thought that Rave was D&P, but not as tacky. It has the overall poppy tone to it, though a bit more melancholy. Not a "Great" album by any means, but I don't understand all the hatred towards it. Rave In2 offered some interesting remixes, but I didn't think it much of an improvement. I even liked a few songs on Rave Un2 better. Either way, I just don't get all the hatred folks harbor towards that album-- New Power Soul was more annoying to me. IMO, I think In2 is almost a different album. I can't stand much of Un2, but In2 I love most of it. I thought that the remixes were much better than the originals. Though I still don't like Baby Knows, So Far So Pleased and Everyday is a Winding road. I sort of wish he had kept strange but true and dropped one of the aformentioned songs. I think the only remix that doesn't work for me is the title track...about 4-5 into it, it gets interesting. Christian Zombie Vampires

What's interesting is that some of the "remixes" are ever so slightly remixed but the hang better. I also think the remixes of Hot w/U and Undisputed vastly improve Rave by making what was mediocre much better thus creating a greater balance of good songs vs dreck. Christian Zombie Vampires

I think P missed the mark with making a video with Gwen. No Doubt was huge at that time and "So Far" probably would have been a huge hit."Strange" and "Prettyman" reminded me of the old P. "Tangerine" with Ani was cool too. Like "Planet Earth", I listened to "Rave" once or twice and I stored it away on the shelf. Thanks!!! Gotta love Shuggie! http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts

Yes, not the greatest of Album's between IN2 and UN2, but they've both got Prettyman, loved the track on the albums, truly adored seeing it performed live
Maceo, can you blow Also, listen to the words of "I Love U, but I Don't trusy you", the man was feeling some pain when he wrote that Beautiful Strange, that was avergae to me, like the lame a**e show with scary spice doing an interview, but the music was cool.

It's the spirit. The remix album didn't do anything to livin' it up. I really really liked TGRES, but thought it would have benefitted from being placed in a more interesting album. Either way, I don't hate either version of the album. It actually ain't half bad. I just don't get folks who passionately love it or those who absolutely hate it.

I love some of the songs-- I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore, especially and makes me cry when I hear it; that said, not crazy about the whole album, and hate the title track. "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

I liked Rave when it came out. I go back to it every few years.
I made my own version of it blending my favs of the original rave and the NPG Version of the CD, it came to 16 tracks. Love the extended version of Tangerine, Sun, Moon, & Stars. Some of the duets did not work very well, maybe they should have been solos.
