Picking a new band for Prince Since Prince changes his band lineup every couple of years, dismissing others who should remain in the band like John Blackwell, and Rhonda Smith and keeping other band members that should move on. My first upgrade would be replacing Josh Dunham with Chico Huff. For those that don't know Chico Huff is a beast on bass. His feel his smooth and is complimentary of the music. Chico is more of a fingers over the bass type player. His doesn't do a lot of thumpin' and pluckin'. The only drawback would be having Prince force Chico play more like Larry Graham and put more "popping and slapping" in his fills when that's not what makes Chico who he is. To know what I'm talking about check out "Studio Jams" which airs on BET Jazz. I've seen him on 4 or 5 episodes and his lines are Jaco-ish but still original and visit his Myspace page. If people have other candidates for bass or other instruments, post it. Think of it as Fantasy Band Competition like Fantasy Football. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR | |
