New topic PrintableI can't hear the song on this computer. However, from hearing the descriptions here such as "Parade" era or Clare Fischer, I'm not missing a damn thing. If he's going to release something from the vault, it should be something before he got weaker with all that artsy/fartsy mess. Andy is a four letter word.

Found this on 3121 website:
The current Jam Of The Week is “Splash”. The sound greatly improved upon, Prince re-mixed this jam 4 inclusion among the numerous NPG Music Club releases and now xclusively here on 3121. Longtime orchestral collaborator Clare Fischer did the string arrangements. Guitar and vocal arrangements were done by Wendy and Lisa. This Prince composition was one of the 1st songs Prince allowed the women 2 work on without his iron hand present. Susannah is also a featured vocalist on this gem. It’s fun 2 try and pick out who’s singing which note 4 those who can tell.
And I'm still loving this song! I HOPE NO ONE TRIPS OVER MY DAISIES! - Thank you Prince, if you're listening! [Edited 11/21/07 16:48pm]

Trust me Vain, you won't like it. It represents everything that was wrong with the Revolution era of Prince music -- overblown, overdone, artsy fartsy, tip toe through the daisies type shit. . [Edited 11/29/07 8:02am] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Listening to Splash and it's dawned on me that it bears similarities with 'Shhh' from TGE. It's like Shhh was a slowed down version of this song. Obviously, they're not exactly identical or anything, but there are certainly similarities in the structures of both pieces.
Just an observation. | |

pzlyprk said: Great to finally get a good quality mastered version of this. This was a stellar period ('82-'87) for P and the girls. I'd love to finally get a released Roadhouse Garden album, but that's probably a pipe dream.
On a side note... considering how these songs on 3121 are being posted for downloading, can anyone point me in the direction of where I can get the acoustic version of Love? I was not able to download that one when available. and while we are at it... anyone? ANYONE? knows how I can get a chocolate invasion? are these "Jams of the week" sort of like the old npgmc downloadables? Do you have to pay for a membership to download? I haven't seen a full album downloadable from 3121.com I really really want to hear the first version of the Dance. My favorite off of 3121 and I keep hearing the original was better. I don't believe that. Maybe 3121 will start offering the old npgmc albums again. [Edited 11/21/07 20:21pm] "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Them original files from chocolate invasion are/were "Copy protected DRM" The only way to get a copy is if u payed for it. Or a friend/whoever rips it to a cd then rips it again... Good luck I got a copy but its protected! And my license is still intact

Never thought I'd see his own website put up a comment like that. Nice to see some humility for a change.

VelvetJ said: June7 said: According to Wikipedia:
In 1998, Prince announced a comeback album of Prince & The Revolution that consisted of unreleased songs. It was most likely never released because of a dispute with the original Revolution members. One of the mentioned songs, "Splash" was released on Prince's Web site. According to Dr. Fink (former Revolution keyboardist) with internet radio host Ernest L Sewell IV of the Ernest Experience Radio Show, Prince asked for Wendy and Lisa's input on the album, but he didn't offer any compensation. Wendy and Lisa asked for the simple things like a hotel, minor expenses covered, and compensation to work on the album (which were all viable requests when being asked to fly to another city and do work). Prince wasn't offering up the money, and they declined his offer. Later, when people asked about the Roadhouse Garden album, his reply was "Ask Wendy and Lisa." ^^^^^ So typical Prince. For real! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Ughhhh, I don't believe I missed this. It looks like the song on 3121 is now I Wish You Heaven (part 2 & 3) which is cool. But I was really hoping to hear "Splash." Is there an archive for previous Jam of the Weeks? Is this a service for registering on 3121.com? Any help would be appreciated.
