New topic PrintableIt would be grand if they put up some more of those NPGMC-only releases.
Maybe this is for those who can't play their purchased mp3s anymore due to lost DRM licences? Prost! "Whatever skin we're in

Does the entire band play on this song, because the drumming doesn't sound like Bobby Z at all, sounds like Prince behind the drum kit. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

Only a few members The Revolution played on Splash. I believe just Wendy & Lisa for backround vocals. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Rinluv said: From dtt-lyrics
Splash "A sample of "Splash" was posted on www.npgonlineltd.com's "The Vault" page in May 2000. The full version was made available as a MP3 download on Mar. 22, 2001 on NPGMC. The song was recorded in August 1985, when Prince also taped songs like "Empty Room", "Sexual Suicide", and "Go". At the time, Parade was essentially completed although Prince added "Mountains" and "Anotherloverholenyohead," recorded in November and December 1985. "Splash" was sent to Clare Fischer for his input in July 1986, but it was never placed on any configurations of Prince's 1986 projects: Dream Factory, Crystal Ball, and Camille. The song is a reasonably strong pop/rock number sung in a falsetto vocal by Prince. The verses have an unusual, reggae-ish rhythm. The chorus is very effective and lifts the song considerably. Fischer's strings are very evident throughout. The track appears to be a live recording with parts of The Revolution, including Wendy and Lisa. The lyrics have Prince singing the praises of his lover, who fulfills his every fantasy. "Splash" was mentioned as a possible track for the aborted Roadhouse Garden album in 1999." Thank you

A Little info about Splash as Posted on 3121...
3121 Jam Of The Week - Splash
The current Jam Of The Week is “Splash”. The sound greatly improved upon, Prince re-mixed this jam 4 inclusion among the numerous NPG Music Club releases and now xclusively here on 3121. Longtime orchestral collaborator Claire Fischer did the string arrangements. Guitar and vocal arrangements were done by Wendy and Lisa. This Prince composition was one of the 1st songs Prince allowed the women 2 work on without his iron hand present. Susannah is also a featured vocalist on this gem. It’s fun 2 try and pick out who’s singing which note 4 those who can tell. Song by the way

Fuck. Now you tell me. After I sprayed half a bottle on me. Here I was, thinking that I would be so cool postin' whilst radiantin' some purple fragrance & wearing my t-shirt.... Instead, I found out that, in all y'all's eyes, I'm just a sell-out, sittin' here reaking of all havok & wearing a faded rag that would be better used as a car-washing implement. It's always so hard trying to fit in around here. [Edited 11/20/07 1:52am]

June7 said: According to Wikipedia:
In 1998, Prince announced a comeback album of Prince & The Revolution that consisted of unreleased songs. It was most likely never released because of a dispute with the original Revolution members. One of the mentioned songs, "Splash" was released on Prince's Web site. According to Dr. Fink (former Revolution keyboardist) with internet radio host Ernest L Sewell IV of the Ernest Experience Radio Show, Prince asked for Wendy and Lisa's input on the album, but he didn't offer any compensation. Wendy and Lisa asked for the simple things like a hotel, minor expenses covered, and compensation to work on the album (which were all viable requests when being asked to fly to another city and do work). Prince wasn't offering up the money, and they declined his offer. Later, when people asked about the Roadhouse Garden album, his reply was "Ask Wendy and Lisa." ^^^^^ So typical Prince. Anyway, though Splash is old, it is still very refreshing to hear. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.
