I think this is all about attention seeking behavior. Prince became popular in the ‘80s cuz he was different, rebellious, an oddity. He loves attention. He thinks (or thawt) that ANY ATTENTION IS GOOD ATTENTION!

The every day music fan does not consider prince a great icon of music, he doesn’t even cross a lot of people’s minds for things he had great influence in. So every few years or so, he comes up w/ some ATTENTION-SEEKING SCHEME, to make the INDUSTRY write an article about him & say he’s the first to try this, or that. In the meantime, he doesn’t realize how ridiculous he MAKES HIMSELF LOOK. He alienates a lot of people, (doesn’t matter if you DON’T MEAN TO….YOU DO!) & claims he does not care who he alienates, but he does! That’s why he goes to Europe, kisses their assess over their, plays his ass off, sells out, makes great reviews, so WE will beg him, “Prince, PLEASE COME HOME & PERFORM IN THE US.?”

He kicked ass at the SUPERBOWL performance, so he trips & thinks he can pull this other shit. Sueing babies for dancing to his song on YOUTUBE, just cuz you don’t make no money off a cute baby! So he gets a success every now & then, like the superbowl & he thinks that gives him the right to act a fool & be rude to his true fans.
The 1980 Prince, would have loved YOUTUBE!!! Cuz his videos & music would have been played all the time, instead of being censored off of MTV cuz he’s a black artist.!!!!!

What are you talking about? You don't even sound like you were living in 1981.

The internet was mostly still an idea in '81.
Prince probably played some pong, however.

PurpleRok, you're probably right. If the internet was around in 1981, Prince more than likely would have embraced Youtube and used it for marketing. He probably would have been one of the first to do it since he likes to think he invented the wheel.

I think Prince (or his label) has used youtube for marketing within the past few years.
