Stubborn Prince.

Why do you all think he doesn't want to listen to what we have to say, what we like or dislike, who we like or don't on stage...
Does he make his own decisions or is there any kind of evil one dictating his actions?

He prob takes on board what folks say but at the end of the day its his career and his choice. Being unique just adds to his music talent and to making him an interesting act to be a fan of.

Better yet, why does he think we have to blindly follow his bs? Half the stuff he comes up with as far as ideals are just a smokescreen to make him look like he's really spiritual.

Best live performer!
Unbelievably gifted!
Superior intellect!
Very sexy still!
Personally, I love it when he shows his vulnerable side every now and then.

It's called constructive criticism. If I teach you something and you do it wrong, the best I can do is correcting your mistake for you to learn from it and do a better job next time...unless one thinks he's too perfect for that.

i disagree...art is there to be critiqued but i don't think an artist has an obligation to listen to his critics...

i do however feel that criticism (negative and positive) are important aspects of the creative world...and process for those who are willing to listen.

You have the right to critique and the artist has an option to listen or not.. sounds fair enough.

It is always fair minded to listen to others. Ultimately we make our final
decisions, knowing that we will be taking responsibility for the final outcome.

i thought art was there primarily to be enjoyed
"C'mon y'all - let me hear you sing, c'mon y'all, shake, c'mon y'all, jump" - Yes Prince -
"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince -

not at all, you see...if an artist work is perceived as crap then the backlash that he/she receives is just as important as the work created. that's the beauty of it all.

since when? don't get me wrong, there are some artist that create for the sheer enjoyment of it all...but those artist tend to never publish their work...the minute you exhibit it though, you are accepting the terms of public ridicule.

IMHO most artists create for the enjoyment and that process is often more important to them than the end product - it is a long tradition of the public ridiculing artists mostly to be proved wrong later - and i always wonder why people are so keen to focus on the critique rather than the enjoyment

I always believe that if you want the artist to see your side of the critique... it should be pointed out in "loving" manner.

Hateful criticism.. who wants that??

You MUST wear loafers!!! Make up your "mind", define "hateful", define "loving" and stop confusing yourself.

If somebody doesn't like every single piece of Indian art you sell, and tells you, is that hateful?

No, if they call me a Indian Bitch or midget (which I am not) and say they don't like it. That is hateful criticism... biggrin

What? A midget or a bitch? falloff I couldn't resist.

But seriously, people who use that language against P prolly feel that way beacuse after years of supporting him through thick and thin, he seems to shit on them every five or so years. They are striking back much in the same way an abused lover strikes back after being beat up for so long.

By the way, it's NOT gonna stop. And Prince doesn't like you anymore for trying to "defend" his honor.

"haters gonna hate
lovers gonna love
i don't even want
none of the above
i want to piss on you" evillol

Totally agree. I think the most important words in this postare 'constructive criticism'. Alot of the criticism here is not constructive, someone saying 'that song sux balls' is not constructive. Tell us/P (if you think he actually does come here) why you think it sux balls.
