Do I need to say more. Which is a better song? its hard for me to choose, i want to know which of these two songs do prince fans like more.

When You Were Mine is one of my all-time favorite songs -- Prince or otherwise. It's just a great, classic rock-n-roll song. It's melodic, the theme is universal, the lyrics are catchy, and the orchestration isn't overworked.

He did extremely well with that one.

Tough question. I really dig both. I guess When U Were Mine is a bonafide classic but the way he used to turn out Why U Wanna live back in the day was just spinetingling, especially the intro. I'd love to see that one return to his setlists.

i think 'when you were mine' has one of the best melodies ever, but the guitar in why you wanna treat me so bad was just exelent. Both the solo and the other parts.

When you were mine, It's a great tune live, 1 think he played it once at one of the aftershows in London, The one i sadly missed.

Also the final song of the 21 nights on the 21 Sep. a true classic.

i wonder why he doesnt play ' why you wanna treat me so bad' anymore. i realy think he should.

both are songs that kind of got me into prince (as well as if i was your girlfriend)

have to say that why you wanna treat me so bad edges it though...lyrically i find it more engaging.

personally i like "when you were mine" better,probably my favorite from his earlier period."why you wanna..." had to grow on me a bit,but i love it now.still,no point in choosing when we got both,right?

Which is the better song? I don't think one is any "better" than the other. Both are well written. Now which one do I favor? That's easy. Why You Wanna. Hands down. Never really dug When You Were Mine. That was usually a song that I skipped on that album. Where as Why You Wanna Treat Me, along with Bambi were the two songs, as a kid, that really hooked me to Prince. Mainly cuz of the rock guitar element. Why You Wanna Treat Me has a cool ass video too. They played that live all the way up through the Controversy tour. Great, great song live. It was even better than the album version. With P and Dez together playing the dual guitar melody line,...yeah, it was cool.

on a side note; Why you wanna..on City Lights, Atlanta 1980 was crazy nice!!!
