That's the best thing he can do and I hope he goes on with this forever! Well, it just doesn't seem to me he's very compassionate. Of course, I don't know him. He might be very compassionate with his friends, family, or people he meets on a daily basis. But regarding his fans, he seems to be all "fire and brimstone." I don't want to follow a leader who lacks compassion. So I'm not so sure he's leading the way to God--well the God I know or the truth as I see it. Then again, Prince isn't perfect either. He makes mistakes, so he deserves compassion, too. As an artist, though, I would agree.. Prince is a genius. That's why I still admire him.

So what's the best thing I can say about Prince? He can bring tears to my eyes. The purple rain performance at the BRIT awards makes me cry. That's a hell of a challenge and Prince won. Every time, I cry. He is so into what he does, its beautiful. He can speak through his instruments in such a masterful way. He has moments where his guitar speaks in a way he never could, Shh and computer blue comes to mind. The piano version of Computer Blue, as well. His music speaks to me in a way no other does. And then I start acting girly and typing crap like this. Tora, I think you are the most beautiful girl in the world..... wow!!!! All i can say is wow..... His music speaks to me on so many different levels, so I've thought of him as a friend, mentor or even beyond that. The Brits is my all-time favorite performance of him. I've got little else to go on because I've never seen him in concert or anything... but with a performance like that, who needs the latter? "Te Amo Corazon" mesmerized me the first time I saw that performance. Not just the whole set up... but I can't deny that he had never looked more gorgeous than he had during that first minute when he's feeling the music after singing the first verse. I forgot for a moment that it is Prince because nobody is that perfectly beautiful. Then when he starts singing again, I recognize him but just watching his eyes shining with such happiness and beauty... takes my breath away. And even watching him blink makes me say "nobody is that perfectly beautifully"... From day 1 (way back with the last 10 minutes of Purple Rain), he has this aura that just surrounds him when he's onstage. An intoxicating aura that leaves me unable to look away. Then what you said about his guitar just speaking in a way that he cannot, that is something I've said a few times. In fact, I started a thread a little while back about his amazing guitar solos and how he pours his feelings into his guitar and speak out his feelings without having to say a word. Shh has some of my favorite guitar he's ever done. Purple Rain combines many emotions into the same guitar strokes. Then the entirity of Alexa de Paris... is just out of this world, a perfect example of how he masterifly (is that a word, haha) uses guitar to speak louder than words. He's told us for years to let the music speak for him. Songs like that prove that he was absolutely right. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I love the brit awards too, even though my version doesn't have Te amo, I'm dying to get that part. I just have the last 3 seconds of te amo starting my version and even that short little flowery flourish part blows me away. And how did i frget Alexa De Paris? That's an awesome pick. His playing is comepletely on another level. He doesn't even have to sing or write, I think he'd be awesome enough w/just his instrumental playing. I mean, words are words, thier purpose is to speak to people. That's easy. (Well, kinda sorta) But when you can speak with someone and make them feel something through a musical instrument. Daaamn, that is special. That is magic.

Here's something else I just realized.
His music is a 2-for-1 shot. Great music & lyrics. But when you're not getting the lyrics or just plain can't hear them getting through to you... there's always the music to pay attention. With the music itself, there's always the chance of uncovering something about a song you didn't notice before. Example: Just now, listening 2 Purple Rain. The long riff he does in "Computer Blue" that's just guitar b4 he starts getting into the "Father's Song" portion... I've listened to it several times, but I never heard the oscillating ripple of music that just runs through it. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Oh my God there are sooo many good things I can say about that man...he creates great music( a true musical genius), he has swagger, he can dress his ass off(lol), and he is is so fine and sexy...to be nearly 50 he can still pass for 35. What other man can get away with being someout feminine and not be considered gay...I appreciate the fact that he just does his thing. Too bad I'm 26. If I was an adult back in the 80s I would have had to get with him! lol. Appolonia was sooo lucky in Purple Rain...I'm sure there are a few more females on this site that would agree... I've learned a lot about Prince, but I think I've learned even more FROM him about what music is supposed to be about. He's so prolific and uses so many genres and storylines that he touches on just about every subject known to human kind. By doing that, his music says so much and can make you feel so many things at once. Before him, music was just something to sing along to and enjoy. But after seeing what he can do and hearing what he's said, music has revealed itself to me as an artform and I learned that art comes from the heart of an artist. And when someone's heart is revealed through their art, that's how you truly get to know them. With Prince, I think one of the select few who live so much for their art and are so close to it that speaks louder for them than anything else. If that's not gifted, I don't know what is had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone
