You are so right RDHull, I Feel it is Prince's best song too and I don't know why no one else seems to notice it as one of his best.

Very few of Prince's lyrics seem to have* much to do with his own experiences and sometimes it's very moving when they do. But he's a very good lyricist, even when the words just seem to be fantasies and melodrama.


* I don't KNOW this, of course, and I don't claim that I do. But I doubt that workin’ part-time in a 5-and-dime and rollerskating around the lake is how P spends most of his afternoons.
