Can you play with him?

I recently watched a video of a young boy who resembled the kid in the Musicology video who was playing Peach on a stand up piano from memory I presume. I noodle on keyboards a bit and play mostly by ear but I recently bought a 1999 music book and am learning Free. I was wondering how many orgers can actually play Prince's songs by ear in their entirity. True musicians represent....I'd love to figure out the riff in Gold and How come you Don't Call Me Anymore?

wave right here.. the 1st thing i learned to play by Prince on piano was either Red Corvette or Purple Rain and then.. i learned a whole bunch others.. Computer Blue (father's version), Sometimes it Snows in April, Love or Money, Pop Life, most all the 80's tunes.. name a song and give me a hot 15 minutes.. i'll know it .. the ONA piano im doing next.. (by the way .. that's what i do anyway.. play piano/keyboard) .. and all by ear

Kudos to you..I must say I took lessons and still feel playing by ear is the best way to learn. Prince songs are simple but complex with regard to chords. It took a while for me to figure out Automatic, but I could play it somewhat before I got the sheet music.

i believe playing by ear is the best too.. if you learn theory with that also, it's more benefit to you, so it's still all good... I remember when i learned how to play Anita Baker's "Sweet Love" all everything else to me was easy.. everything i heard on radio, commercials, etc.. whatever it was i was learning it on keys... i have to think about which of Prince's tunes are the most challenging... now you make me wanna go dig up HCYDCM..i like the version in the Girl 6 movie

I can play a lot of his stuff on guitar, but on keys I can only play songs with simple progressions. I tihnk the first one I played all the way though was "Got A Broken Heart Again"
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

I'm teaching myself to play "Under The Cherry Moon" on piano. It would help if Mr. Stingy made his sheet music available. I've found a few but not for that song and it's the one I really want to play. pout

Yeah, I'm missing Parade. I have, SOTT, Lovesexy, D&P, Purple rain score books.

I play guitar, so there's plenty of tabs on the net. Shame about piano.
